In the interests of sustainability, more and more areas are trying to work with renewable raw materials. The French helmet manufacturer Roof relies on bamboo fibers for the Bamboo jet helmet presented at EICMA in Milan.
Sustainable all round
This project has been smoldering with the French since 2007, and now they are finally ready to make a helmet out of bamboo and offer it for sale. The helmet shell is laminated from bamboo fibers and a special cotton fabric. The natural bamboo fibers also ensure that each helmet is unique. The Roof Bamboo complies with the E22-05 test standard and is scheduled to go on sale in spring 2020. But it’s not just the helmet shell that focuses on sustainability; Roof uses latex for the removable, adjustable and washable inner padding. The Bamboo is available in two colors – gray and natural, and optionally with a visor. Sizes from 54 to 61 are offered.
The sustainability approach is rounded off with helmet bags made of coconut fibers and boxes made of recycled cardboard. The French have not yet announced a price for the Bamboo jet helmet.
