Last weekend the victory in the first race in Magny-Cours (France), today the switch to Yamaha: The Turkish Superbike World Championship rider Toprak Razgatlioglu is making headlines these days. The previous Kawasaki rider, who made a name for himself with good performances this season, will start the coming SBK season for Yamaha and thus replaces Alex Lowes. As in this season, the second cockpit will be occupied by Michael van der Mark.

Turning point 8-hour race in Suzuka?

The reason for the change could have been the 8-hour race in Suzuka. Toprak Razgatlioglu was not used in the endurance race. Jonathan Rea and Leon Haslam led Kawasaki to victory in Suzuka, which apparently didn’t go down well with Razgatlioglu and his manager Kenan Sofuoglu. So now Yamaha is taking on the young Turkish talent.

Alex Lowes, who is currently in third place in the overall SBK World Championship and is therefore the best positioned Yamaha rider in the classification, could go the opposite way and in the coming season as a team-mate of Jonathan Rea for the Kawasaki -Start the factory team. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed. Rumor has it that Yamaha Lowes actually wanted to transfer the brand to Ten Kate or GRT. However, this option was out of the question for the Englishman.
