There were and are very good reasons for customer loyalty. In addition to the still excellent price-performance ratio, this is above all the famous motor, which increased its stroke from 1157 to 1255 cm³ thanks to five millimeters more and thus causes tears of emotion in terms of the power and torque curve. Specifically: Between 3000 and 7000 rpm, the four-pack never weighs less than 100 Nm on the crankshaft. In practice, this makes for an unbelievable nonchalance, because the 1250 simply can always. The chassis, which is much tighter and more direct than its predecessor, allows the enormous thump to hit the road in a controlled manner, and the standard ABS safely catches the load again. The half-boarded S version has always been more popular than the naked model, but is now facing competition from the company with the faster boarded GSX 1250 F.

The disguised Bandit was more popular than the naked GSF 1250 A..

The Bandit 1250 / S is in fourth place on the MOTORRAD long-term test list – it doesn’t get much better and actually reveals everything about the mechanical reliability of the four-in-line. 50,000 breakdown-free kilometers, a fancy speedometer display and a striking idle display (both victims of water and road salt corroded plug connections) as the only defects – there was nothing more to report.

The bandit surveyor can therefore confidently concentrate on the classic test points (e.g. accident damage) and on the little things. This includes the rather mixed paint quality. Not a typical Suzuki problem, but in the age “more environmentally friendly” (namely water-soluble) paints are an issue on many newer motorcycles. The tank and frame tubes are particularly at risk. The aforementioned electrical troughs caused by inadequately protected plug contacts against moisture can also occur – therefore check all consumers and displays carefully. Bandit owners love touring accessories, e.g. B. Chain Oiler. Nice thing, but not worth the extra charge. Much more important: Is the lousy initial tires still installed?

Market situation

8242 half-boarded, 1014 naked bandits (as of the end of January 2011) – these registration figures clearly show how the 1250 market is divided. The second-hand offer looks accordingly, but the new price difference of 200 to 400 euros quickly turns into 400 to 800 euros for second-hand bandits. The S model is therefore traded significantly more expensive for a comparable age and similar mileage. First-time buyers of S models tend to be a bit older (almost always over 40s) than buyers of the basic model and also achieve a higher mileage.

In contrast to the 1200 customers, the willingness to convert is kept within very narrow limits: accessory muffler (easy to change because the catalytic converter and lambda probe are in front of the flange; preferably from Hurric, Laser or Shark), superbike handlebars (very often from LSL ) and of course better wind protection (MRA Variotouringscreen or the corresponding original Suzuki part) – hardly more is converted. Seldom does anything go below 5000 euros; over 7000 euros, the air for salespeople will be very scarce.

Wild mix of styles: analog tachometer, digital speedometer – really pretty is somehow different. The S model will still be on the road in 2011. The other models got the new fittings.
