Parka for motorcyclists

The Spidi Beta H2Out is a chic jacket for motorcyclists. How does the motorcycle parka fare in the first test??

As a motorcyclist you want to cut a good figure away from the machine and appear in the office, for business meals or customer appointments with appropriate clothes. It’s no secret that Italians have a good knack for fashion. So it is hardly surprising that the weatherproof parka Beta H2Out from Spidi goes through as a business look with beautiful simplicity. The motorcycle features are discreetly hidden.

Safety level sufficient for city driving

Let’s start with safety: certified protectors on shoulders and elbows (but only the weaker level 1) and a slot for a retrofit back protector. The seat of the protectors is great, the rather thin polyester outer fabric does not offer the highest level of abrasion resistance, but overall the safety level is sufficient for city driving.

manufacturer

The Spidi Beta H2Out is available for 299.90 euros.

The moisture protection is sufficient for normal showers, but on longer rainy tours you get wet and the (supposedly tight) outer pockets let water in immediately. The removable, sleeveless thermal inner jacket with a top collar fit is again fully suitable for winter. The bottom line: decent weather protection for short trips. The overall cut of the parka is rather “slim fit”, in the hip / waist area the circumference can be expanded with zippers, which increases the comfort of the ride. The cuffs are very tight, voluminous wristwatches, for example, sometimes get caught in them.

Noticed positively: low weight, very good motorcycle and everyday suitability

Noticed negatively: conditionally waterproof

Sizes: S to 3XL

Price: 299.90 euros

MOTORRAD verdict: 3.5 stars out of a possible 5

Conclusion

The Spidi Beta H2Out convinced in the test with its chic design and good functionality. Despite small weaknesses, it is a great and slightly different city motorcycle jacket.

  1. I am considering the Spidi Beta jacket that you reviewed and the Spidi Gamma jacket which appears to be a shorter version. I wear heated gloves that have batteries stored in the wrist area so the very tight cuffs on the Beta jacket would be a problem as I like to wear the gloves under the jacket. Do you know if the Gamma jacket has very tight cuffs too?

  2. The laminated H2Out membrane is rated at 20000mm H2O which is a high level of waterproofness. I am surprised that the membrane did not do its job on longer rainy tours. Which areas leaked?
