Kerschbaumer reaches for the straw

A lot is at stake for the Austrian Stefan Kerschbaumer. In theory, it is possible that “Steff” won the runner-up in the IDM Superbike 1000 at the finals in Hockenheim from September 29 to October 1, 2017. As long as there is a chance, the MPB Racing Yamaha rider will fight for it.

Kerschbaumer is currently fifth overall with 123 points. He has to take on Florian Alt (Yamaha, 154 points), Jan Buhn (BMW, 154 points) and Danny de Boer (BMW, 144 points).

In Oschersleben, he first had to catch up a few championship points, as his record in Lausitz had been unexpectedly meager. After a second place and the associated 20 points in the first run, he received a zero in the second. An overzealous colleague had knocked him off the track.

In Oschersleben, however, there were only 18 points, but Kerschbaumer reached the goal in both races. At Hockenheim, as in Zolder, he hopes to finish on the podium again in both races.

Team mate Thomas Gradinger won the title in the IDM Supersport 600 in Oschersleben. “We Austrians are on the advance”, believes the Kerschbaumer.

Before the IDM final, he will contest the 24-hour long-distance Bol d’Or on the Circuit Paul Ricard from September 15 to 17. His colleagues in the team, who jump with him on a BMW S1000 RR for the occasion: Jan Buhn and Lucy Glockner.
