Far removed from the character 1130 TnT and Tre-K, the BN 302 is a way for Benelli to conquer new markets. No explosive power, no sports chassis, no fury behind the throttle. Here, we play with the easy and gentle roadster; the machine to tame young bikers. It does not smell the verve of Pesaro … Much more the marketing logic of Qianjiang, the Chinese brand presiding over the destiny of Benelli.
The design is confusing with its mimicry. We will not find any identity specific to this BN 302. And for good reason: it is an almost perfect copy and paste of the Kawasaki ER-6n. Silhouette, frame, seated exhaust, stern, swingarm, positioning of the shock absorber, etc … There is only the headlight (and more), the dashboard, the brand sticker, and the displacement to make a difference. With a little over 300 cm3, this roadster comes to titillate the Z 300 and KTM 390 Duke. It is mainly intended to satisfy the mechanical thirsts of emerging countries.
Do not complain too much, because this Benelli enriches the offer of a segment little fleshed out. Its twin comes out 38 horsepower, enough power for the urban environment and to walk quietly between small valleys. We grumble about its resemblance to the Kawa but it is not bad for all that. Its inverted fork gives a plumb, the pace promises to be playful. On the weight side, a little diet wouldn’t hurt. 180 kilos is the weight of a 600 … and it cubs half as much. On the other hand, if this Benelli BN 302 can mark its territory with a canon price, the tone of the young license market could prove to be lenient. Funny anecdote, for Asian markets, this machine is called TnT 300.
