BMW K 1300 GT 2010

By modernizing its K 1200 GT with an increase in engine capacity and power, BMW is further improving one of the most capable road vessels it has created. From the top of its 160 horsepower (8 more than with the 1200 engine), the new K 1300 GT claims its lordship of the road even more strongly. Demanding in terms of Dynamic Grand Tourism specifications, Bavarian engineers have focused their work on more dynamism, more comfort, and a high level of road excellence.

It is true that this is Behème’s favorite niche. But the Yamaha FJR 1300 and Kawasaki 1400 GTR did not hesitate to shake up the stronghold of Bavaria on their outings. So, from evolution to improvement, the GT series came to this K 1300. Motorized by the same 4 cylinders as the cousin S, the big road is entitled to less power for the benefit of more torque and availability in the revs usual. And unlike the new 1300 S and R, more sporty, the GT does not benefit from the piloted EXUP style exhaust valve..

Always imposing and creating a strong impression of solidity, the fairing of the 1300 is also a little more dynamic. The side panels are now pierced with a ventilation hole where the logo is embedded in the BM propeller. A little more varnish in some places, revised stems, redesigned instrumentation, complete the changes made to this evolution of the Grand Touring K series. Some comfort elements are already standard on the K 1300 GT, such as the handlebars, the saddle or bubble (electric) adjustable in height. To really have fun, take a look at the catalog of options to polish a GT à la carte. How about grips and a heated saddle, automatic ESA II suspension adjustment, cruise control, traction control and a small on-board computer, eh…. ? Ah, problem, the banker is on the verge of fainting.

Let’s take a top efficient and top quick look at Technical highlights: Increased dynamism, especially in the lower and middle rev range, thanks to the increased displacement, power from 160 hp at 9,000 rpm and maximum torque of 135 Newton-meters at 8000 rpm, significant increase in torque from 3500 rpm, optimized exhaust line thanks to a silencer with a different interior structure and to the three-function catalytic converter regulated by lambda probe , improved throttle control metering thanks to a desmodromic system, maintenance-free universal joint transmission, improved steering precision and response thanks to the front wheel guidance system – Duolever – optimized by a redesigned lower longitudinal arm, suspension at second generation ESA II electronic adjustment and ASC traction control system available on request, new generation handlebar controls with optimized ergonomics, ABS, adjustable saddle and handlebars, square optimized full stroke and electrically adjustable bubble.
