As a further innovation at EICMA, BMW presented the six-cylinder touring bike in bagger style.

Bmw K 1600 Grand America is the name of one of the biggest trade fair innovations at the moment. And the name says it all. With the well-known inline six-cylinder (1649 cm³, 160 hp) and the sloping styling of the well-known sister model K 1600 B, the Grand America is apparently tailored to the US market.

The BMW K 1600 Grand America differs from the K 1600 B not only in the standard top case, which serves as an armchair for the front passenger and to the rear as a support for the stylish taillights. It has the previously optional reverse gear as standard and – attention, novelty! – locks at a top speed of 162 km / h (USA: 101 miles per hour). The official reason for this, according to BMW: If riders screw additional heavy accessories to the rear, as is usual in this motorcycle category, unstable driving conditions could result at speeds higher than 160 km / h.

The BMW K 1600 Grand America weighs 364 kilograms. Price: 25,070 euros in monochrome black. An optionally available two-tone paint in yellow-black metallic costs an extra charge.
