Produced as part of the first R nine-T Custom Contest, the BMW R nineT “L’Echappee Belle” customized by the team of Old School Engineering (OSE) in Le Havre is unveiled to fans of personalized motorcycles and lifestyle as part of the of the second BMW Motorrad Custom Party on October 1, 2015 in Paris. After 4 months of intense work, the sidecar “L’Echappee Belle” made its first turns and turned heads in Paris on the occasion of the evening..
OSE is a collective of enthusiasts based in Le Havre. For Anthony, Benoit, Christophe and Marc as well as all the members of the association, this project turned out to be ambitious given the deadline to be respected. They knew how to work as a team and take turns at the workshop to finalize this preparation. Everyone was therefore able to contribute with their know-how to meet all the technical challenges of assembling the largely modified Watsonian basket. This unique custom sidecar clearly refers to this long tradition of the brand.
Particular attention has been paid to details such as the aluminum protections for the body of the motorcycle and the side, the integration of Motogadget instrumentation or the leather upholstery made to measure by Harley Grove. The raised exhaust line with its Cone Engineering mufflers, the PIAA headlamps mounted for discreet but powerful lighting, the notched footrests or the Continental studded tires are also there to remind that this sidecar is well destined to evolve in all terrain and above all the pleasure of riding quite simply, alone, two or three.
“I was very surprised at the level of finish of the sidecar of the OSE team when I discovered the Echappee Belle for the first time. The work undertaken by these enthusiasts is well up to what we are doing. We could hope. Having chosen to build a side was a good idea because it refers to the history of BMW Motorrad, especially in competition. The use of off-road aesthetic codes is also a beautiful reference to our know-how in the material … “enthuses Guillaume de Sazilly, marketing manager of BMW Motorrad France.
