With this F 800 GT replacing the F 800 ST, BMW is going from mini-sport-tourism to mini-grand-tourism. Nicely redesigned, the 800 family roadster raises its claims just as much as its performance. The look has not changed, the design has evolved, the machine has asserted itself. The F 800 GT gives off a distinctly more dynamic impression, mainly thanks to its more generous and sportingly designed fairing panels. With its larger bubble, the Behème gains in protection. Apart from the saddle, the rear part remains that of the ST.
No big changes concerning the technical and mechanical parts but a good series of modifications to clearly identify with the ST series. We keep the 798 cc twin, re-calibrate it, give it the exhaust manifold of the ex F 800 R, and we get 5 horsepower better. Maximum power, in this case 90 hp, is reached at the same speed as on the old ST, at 8000 rpm. A 48 hp flanged version for young A2 licensees is also available..
Under its casing, we will find the double aluminum beam frame, the classic type fork, the unique location of the fuel flap, the brake discs without frets, the standard ABS, the belt transmission and a few extras. improving the efficiency of this 800 traveler. New lightweight rims, a 50mm extended single-sided swingarm for more stability, a 15mm reduced suspension height, a revamped dashboard, standard-size controls, and more engaging ergonomics. With a 20mm handlebar lift, a saddle that drops from 840 to 800mm and footrests now 10mm further forward and 10mm lower, the rider will find a more relaxed riding position..
This small GT falls in love with a few assistances usually reserved for more upscale machines. As an option, you can use the disconnectable ASC traction control and / or the ESA, the controlled suspension. The Electronic Suspension Adjustment allows here to electronically adjust the rebound of the rear shock absorber in 3 modes: comfort, normal or sport.
This F 800 GT is clearly the youngest female traveler from Bavaria and one of the few small GTs available on the market. Its payload has been increased by 11 kilos (207 maximum load) to be able to take many effects and luggage. This is where the accessories and options department comes in: 55-liter suitcases, 28-liter top-case, GPS Navigator IV, central stand, several types of saddle, heated grips, Akrapovic silencer, etc., etc. all that. Detail that does not spoil anything: consumption, announced particularly frugal.
