Bol d'Or - 3:00 p.m .: historic victory for GMT 94 at the Bol d'Or! -

At the end of an exciting race with many twists and turns, the Yamaha GMT 94 n ° 94 of Christophe Guyot, led by David Checa, Sebastien Gimbert and Olivier Four, won for the first time in its history the legendary Bol d ‘Gold !

After 801 laps in 24 hours, Christophe Guyot is finally making his dream of placing the Bol d’Or on his record a reality !

The Blockbuster category is won by the No. 38 Yamaha R1 of the Endurance Moto team after a second half of the race without any real resistance from the other competitors. She finished 8th in the general classification.

In the Superstock category, the # 72 Suzuki GSXR 1000 from the Junior Team Suzuki LMS stable also flew over the competition..

Finally, the Open category was won, for lack of competitors still in the race apart from the Benelli n ° 151, by the BMW Motorrad Motorsport n ° 17 driven by Thomas Hinterreiter, Rico Penzkoffer and Markus Barth.

With this victory, GMT 94 puts an end to a six-year reign of SERT on the Magny-Cours circuit with its drivers David Checa, Olivier Four and Sebastien Gimbert. The Yamaha n ° 94 is ahead of the two Suzuki n ° 1 and n ° 2 of the SERT who finish with seven and ten laps behind.

Half an hour from the finish, the lead bike had already completed the number of laps made by the victorious bike last year, attesting to the spectacular progress made in a year !

It’s therefore a real happy end for all since with the second place of its Suzuki n ° 1, the SERT won the 2007 world endurance championship..

In blockbuster, the Yamaha n ° 38 driven by Julien Millet, Fabrice Auger and Joao Contente Fernandes is ahead of the Suzuki of the Igol Team 18 Sapeurs Pompiers team and that of the Igol AM Moto Racing Competition team, which completes the podium after believing in victory..

Note in the last half hour of the race the abandonment of the Kawasaki n ° 8 after an incomprehensible cabriole of its driver when leaving the pits, and the technical problem of the Honda n ° 55 National Motos which sees its engine smoking but can start again in seventh position.

In superstock, Freddy Foray, Emeric Jonchiere and Anthony Delhalle took the No. 72 Suzuki to victory. After a strong battle until the last minutes for second place, it is finally the Suzuki GSXR 1000 n ° 100 of Endurance Moto 45 which has the upper hand over the Kawasaki n ° 24 of the 3D Endurance Moto Center IGOL team, almost in the last round !

Finally, the 71st Bol d´Or also claimed many victims: no less than 27 withdrawals, a level rarely reached out of a total of 57 qualified crews! This is how the legend of the Bol d’Or is maintained for a long time to come … See you soon !
