Bol d'Or - Honda n ° 1 world champion wins Bol d'Or 2018 - Used HONDA

At the end of a completely upset end of the race, the Honda n ° 1 of FCC TSR Honda France wins the Bol d’Or 2018 !

Riding the reigning world endurance champion, Josh Hook, Freddy Foray and Mike di Meglio leave Le Castellet at the top of the 2018/2019 standings while on the official Kawasaki SRC n ° 11 victim of an electrical problem at the end race, Randy de Puniet, Jeremy Guarnoni and David Checa let slip the victory which seemed to be reaching out to them…

The Kawasaki SRC n ° 11, which had due to engine failure, took place its Bol d’Or 2018 without too many mishaps, unlike its main competitors … But the end of the morning radically changed the outcome of the race: immobilized on three occasions two hours from the finish for an electrical problem, Gilles Stafler’s men who had been leading since 1 a.m. left in 5th position at 1 p.m. and finished 7th under the checkered flag…

The defector from GMT 94 David Checa, who was new to the ZX-10R and his Pirelli, will therefore not sign a second consecutive victory at the Bol d’Or with his new teammates Randy de Puniet and Jeremy Guarnoni.

Honda’s first Bol d’Or victory since 1996

This privilege goes to Mike di Meglio, who climbs back to the top step of the Bol d’Or podium after his GMT.

At the end of a superb comeback, the (old model) led by Freddy Foray, Josh Hook and Mike di Meglio won with a breath in front of the Yamaha n ° 7 of YART, author of a discreet race complicated by the crash scored by Niccolo Canepa. The former GMT94 driver, author of the fastest lap in the race in 1’55.487, gave his all in the last hours, gaining nearly a second per lap from the Honda !

After having also known its share of difficulties this weekend, the Honda n ° 1 of the FCC TSR Honda France team, and reigning world champion, leaves Le Castellet at the top of the provisional general classification 2018/2019 after a superb comeback. She won her first Bol d’Or victory since … 1996, already on the Paul Ricard circuit, with Alex Vieira, William Costes and Christian Lavieille.

In the private Yamaha n ° 13 of Wepol Racing (which rode last year on BMW with Penz13), Daniel Webb, Matthieu Lagrive and Sheridan Morais finished on the third step of the podium two laps behind the first two, ahead of the private Kawasaki n ° 8 of the Bolliger team (Roman Stamm, Sebastien Suchet and Jonathan Hugot).

This first round of the endurance world championship was, on the other hand, less lenient for the Suzuki n ° 2 of SERT: after having played for the win, Vincent Philippe, Gregg Black and Etienne Masson finished in 5th position..

In Superstock, the n ° 56 BMW of the German Endurance Racing Team (Julian Uffe, Stefan Kerschbaumer and Filip Altendorfer) dominated the category for a long time and stood up to the reigning world champion, the n ° 4 Kawasaki of Tati Beaujolais Racing (Julien Enjolras, Kevin Denis and Osamu Deguchi) who climbed on the second step of the Superstock podium in front of the Suzuki n ° 44 of the No Limits team.

Among the official machines, the BMW n ° 6 (Kenny Foray, Julien da Costa and Mathieu Gines) and the Honda n ° 111 (Sebastien Gimbert, Gregory Leblanc and Erwan Nigon) unfortunately had to retire. As for the private teams, let us point out in particular the abandonment of the Kawasaki n ° 18 of the Sapeurs Pompiers led by Enrique Ferrer, Robin Camus and Florent Tourne. The n ° 72 Junior Team Suzuki Le Mans Sud also had to throw in the towel over a mechanical problem.

To be continued tomorrow on MNC with statements from pilots and team managers: stay tuned !
