The 24H Moto 2010, this weekend at Le Mans, will be the last edition to open the endurance world championship: from next year, the Le Mans event will give way to the Bol d’Or (still at Magny-Cours but in April) while the 24H Moto du Mans will take place in September.

Too close

"From 2011, we will first have to think about Bol d’Or then 24 Heures Moto, after the presidents of the respective organizing committees have agreed to exchange their traditional months of registration on the calendar: April and September", indicate the organizers in a joint press release.

The reasons given for this reversal are due to the too great proximity between the events: on the one hand on the Bugatti circuit of Le Mans with the 24H Moto in April and the French Grand Prix in May, and on the other hand at Magny-Cours with the Bol d’Or in September and the Mondial Superbike in October.

Le Bol in April, 24H in September

"Due to the brake on progress that can be too close intervals between these events, a questioning of the principles of establishing the sports agenda was necessary in order to space the dates of the major events from each other. , while taking into account the requirements related to national and international calendars ", specify the governing bodies of the 24H and the Bol d’Or.

The common will of the two presidents of the French rounds of the endruance world championship, Patrick Casasnovas for the Bol d’Or and Jean-Claude Plassart for the 24 Heures Moto, but also the support of Jacques Bolle for the FFM and Jean- Pierre Mougin for the FIM, therefore resulted in the signing of an agreement to reverse the traditional registration dates of two races.

From next year, the Bol d’Or will therefore become "a spring event in April on the Nevers Magny-Cours Circuit" while the 24 Heures Moto du Mans will become the "festival at the end of the summer season, in September on the Bugatti Circuit ". Save the date 2011 !
