Business - Over a billion euros in turnover for KTM in 2015 - Used KTM

With 183,170 motorcycles sold worldwide in 2015, KTM not only broke its previous record but also – and above all – exceeded the billion euros mark in turnover. Europe’s leading motorcycle manufacturer takes stock.

Last year, the Austrians sold 152,181 motorcycles (KTM and Husqvarna) to which should be added the Duke 200/390 and RC 200/390 sold in India by their partner Bajaj. A total of 183,170 "Mechanical Oranges" were therefore sold in 2015, an increase of + 15% compared to a .

Turnover increased further at "+18%", calculates KTM, and exceeds one billion euros: 1.022 exactly if we are to believe the annual report published a few days ago – in German and English – on the official website of the brand.

Husqvarna in the starting blocks

In its balance sheet, KTM says – without quantifying anything – that Husqvarna broke a new sales record in 2015. "Regarding the Husqvarna brand, significant growth is expected for 2016", predicts the big boss Stefan Pierer.

"From 2017, the brand will launch a new range of road motorcycles on the market.". Two motorcycles based on the Duke 390 () are actually under development in Austria … and India.

"2015 was the best year financially in KTM history, rejoices the firm from Mattighofen, also convinced to be "the most advanced motorcycle brand in the world in recent years".

For comparison, the sold 54,809 motorcycles in 2015 for a turnover of 702 million euros. The is still beaten by KTM in terms of sales volumes (136,963 units), but makes up for it by approaching the 2 billion turnover mark..

But Stefan Pierer does not take this last data into account in his balance sheet – "naturlich" – and rather welcomes the net profits earned before interest and taxes (EBIT): 95.1 million euros, which he says is a new record for his company.

The Austrian big boss also takes the opportunity to highlight KTM’s efforts in terms of investments: "110.9 million euros, i.e. 30% more than in 2014 at Mattighofen and Munderfing, which increases and consolidates our Austrian bases".

These efforts should continue in 2016 since Herr Pierer plans to invest another 100 million euros in its Austrian factories and the development of new models on the one hand, 12 million in a new building dedicated to competition on the other. .. Also remember that !

The CEO of KTM also points out that his "small company" – which is clearly not experiencing the crisis – now has 2,515 employees, another record: "in 2015, 372 people joined our workforce, of which 339 are new employees in Austria".

And Stefan Pierer intends to continue this momentum: "a significant increase in the North American market is expected. In Europe, the trend should be positive. Emerging markets in South America and Asia are more uncertain", he foresees.

In the medium term, however, the big boss believes that the Asian markets will grow and, with them, the number of sales of KTM: the objective of 250,000 motorcycles sold per year is set. See you around 2020: stay connected !
