PSA is considering restructuring its scooter activity
While Peugeot Scooters is preparing to unveil its three-wheeler and its Satelis “2012”, the parent company PSA announced last week that it is considering restructuring its scooter activity. But nothing will be revealed before the next CCE: patience.
Next week at EICMA 2011 in Milan, Peugeot Scooters will unveil – finally! – its three-wheeler, as well as a new version of its spearhead, the Satelis, two extremely important new features for the brand.
The atmosphere on the stand may however be tense, since the parent company PSA announced, during its European group committee last Wednesday (October 26), that it was considering a restructuring of its scooter activity….
"We do not have any additional information on this subject", already indicates to Site Bruno Muller, the director of communication and external relations of Peugeot Scooters,"and contrary to what some of your colleagues from the regional press recently wrote, we will not have any before the next CCE (Central Works Council, Editor’s note) scheduled for November 25".
However, the managers of the French brand remain clear on two points: "the scooter" should become a profitable activity for the group, just as the group will not accept production in France at a loss … Or "if we gained market share, this increase did not compensate for the decrease in the market in general (read, Editor’s note) ", reports Bruno Muller.
Hence the need for – and according to – PSA to review the organization of Peugeot Scooters. According to our colleagues from the Republican East, Emmanuel Guillier, CGT delegate, already hears the general manager: "they will hit the production workforce and office workers".
"In my opinion", continues the interlocutor,"the Dannemarie plant (Haut-Rhin) is doomed. And in Mandeure, they should keep a small unit, to say that Peugeot Scooters assembles machines in France"… To be continued on Site: stay connected !
