As revealed yesterday by our colleague Thierry Cazenabe from ("You said French motorcycles", read in particular), the Voxan brand has finally been attributed to the car manufacturer Venturi, which has been converted for several years into electric cars. Tonight, the Monegasque entrepreneur plans nothing less than the release of an electric Voxan within three years !
"This acquisition, which marks a new strategy for Voxan, complements that of Venturi in the field of electric mobility", explains in a press release the Monegasque brand of French origin: "Venturi and Voxan, with destinies linked in particular by the same designer Sacha Lakic, now come together side by side to embody the innovation policy deployed by Gildo Pallanca Pastor since the takeover of the Venturi brand in 2001 ".
The takeover concerns, among other things, "all the brands, designs, models and molds associated with Voxan", specifies Venturi, which will bring to Voxan "the experience and mastery of advanced technologies to stand out from the major motorcycle manufacturers and become a viable business ".
"This takeover propels Voxan into the future of mobility. The magnificent machines produced so far will remain" collectors ", a strong image on which the brand will continue to rely in order to move towards electric propulsion", continues the Monegasque car manufacturer..
While specifying that "sport will remain an axis of development for Voxan which will be supplemented by models of greater distribution", the Monegasque car manufacturer estimates that "the development of the first electric Voxan will take nearly 3 years" and that it will be "produced in the long term in the Group’s assembly unit in Sable-sur-Sarthe".
French manufacturer now based in Monaco, Venturi presented its first model at the Paris Motor Show in 1984. "Born of the creative genius of Claude Poiraud and Gerard Godfroy, it aims to be the only car French Grand Tourisme but remaining light (850 kg for a displacement of 2 liters) ", explains the official website of the brand. The factory’s headquarters were located at the time in Couëron (44), where nearly 700 Venturi were built in 20 years.
Venturi notably shone during the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1993 with a certain Christophe Dechavanne driving the Venturi Jaccadi alongside Jacques Laffite, then in 1995 with Paul Belmondo on the only 600 SLM entered.
In 1994, Venturi won its duel three times against the F40s and other competitors: in Dijon (600 LM from Ferte and Neugarten from the Jaccadi team), at 1000 km from Paris (victory by Pescarolo and Basso over 600 LM) and at the 4 Hours of Spa with new Ferte and Neugarten.
The brand was then bought on July 4, 2001 by Gildo Pallanca Pastor (photo), a former pilot and entrepreneur specializing in the financing of innovative companies, who gave it "a new lease of life". The new big boss explains today that after having "changed the image of electric vehicles with the presentation of Fetish, Venturi is providing concrete solutions to the changes in the market: first with Eclectic, a small urban electric vehicle intended for to use in car sharing, then with electric conversions of utility vehicles intended for company fleets and delivery professionals. Of course, we do not forget the pleasure and the passion with Volage, which is undoubtedly the the most technologically advanced electric vehicle! "
