Well advised with a used 883
The time for the new Harley-Davidson Sportster is running out. Looking at the used markets, the age of the old Sportster is just beginning. Even the small 883s are rising in prices. The garage full of gold.

Stefan is in a similar situation. His 883 Hugger from 1995 would be worth about the new price today, the carburetor models are in great demand. Sell ββor change? The men from Crooked Motorcycles in Allgau take the answer from him using a 3D printer and welding machine.

Must be black. The Hugger is to become a modern all-black bike. Crooked have free hand. However, there is one requirement: the battery should be placed prominently. After all, Stefan is the head of a battery company. The statement: The bike was built around the battery would be wrong. However, the plexiglass box with LED lighting without a side cover pushes in this direction. With its mix of black and matt black, the Hugger is also getting a new name: umber. Let’s just assume that this represents the umbra of a solar eclipse and not the dogfish species. Also not for the earth brown shade, which is also called umber and is not black.

Sheet metal work in the house
Crooked is rightly proud to have designed and welded the new tank and the docked stern himself. Sounds easy, but anyone who has failed miserably when welding a nut on for a test can imagine the trouble with millimeter sheet metal. Result: 1+ with a star. Said stern is raised with longer Yss shock absorbers, the swing arm is lengthened a good deal. The sheet metal work is rounded off with a raised exhaust system and mufflers from Hattech.

3D on V2
Manufacturing custom parts using 3D printing is a dream come true for all converters. Crooked also uses such parts. The colleagues at Motoism print a stylish air filter cover out of plastic and also use this technology to manufacture the fork covers with the recessed indicators. In this case made of a plastic reinforced with carbon fibers. The high-tech orgy is complemented by handlebar buttons from Motogadget, from which the Motoscope Pro instrument comes. The low-build LED headlight from Gezzini is converted to bottom-mounted and screwed onto the fork bridge. In the new rear section, Pin-Blaze LED indicators from Motogadget complement the mini rear light.

Many are beautiful, but also impassable.
Better to leave it in its original condition.
Conclusion
With a new tank and rear end, an old Hugger becomes a modern custom bike. The young custom bike manufacturer Crooked dares to use a Harley and its first own tank for the first time, with strong results.
