Barry Sheene has passed away already. In memory of the coolest motorcycle rider, Site relays a documentary entitled "When Playboys ruled the World" … Or when the English Sheene and Hunt dominated the world of Moto and Auto Grand Prix…

The year 1976 was that of two English "handsome kids": Barry Sheene, titled in GP 500 on Suzuki, and James Hunt, crowned in Formula One on McLaren. Young, attractive, rich and hedonistic – a politically correct term … – they were to motorcycles and cars what George Best was to football a few years before.

The film "When Playboys ruled the World" (published on YouTube in their unsubtitled version, unfortunately for the Anglophobic froggies) retraces their professional paths, which have necessarily led them to cross paths on several occasions in the paddocks, on the TV sets. , then going out to the same nightclubs and finally becoming very good friends.

Another particularly interesting parallel is also drawn between the lives of Sheene and Hunt, who today would be taxed at least as dissolute, and those of 21st century athletes (Rooney, Woods, etc.) who would have been greatly envied yesterday….

Note, for bikers who would like to know "Hunt the Shunt" a little better, that the Blu-ray of "Rush" is commercially available: this excellent film by Ron Howard released last fall features the formidable duel which pitted the English playboy against the – much wiser – Nikki Lauda. To see, in VOST or VF this time !
