Driving report Custom Chrome The V
The V
It is a strange mixture. And that is exactly what makes it so attractive
out. 1590 millimeters wheelbase? and 17-inch forged Marchesini wheels. A 1802 cubic centimeter bumper motor ?? and a high, indecently loud Shark sports exhaust, even with a dB killer. 46er paioli upside-down fork ?? and mighty, chrome-bursting handle fittings. Plus the ever-wide LSL handlebar in combination with a long twelve-liter tank? and you have a very extravagant driving pleasure.
Especially when you register what you have between your legs. Not Harley, but RevTech. A 45 degree V2 of Korean origin. But he’s not from bad parents. A 101.6 millimeter bore and 111.1 millimeter stroke, ventilated by two 45 Mikuni carburetors, result in a nominal 115 and measured 114 hp earthquake on the open-topped Big Bore Richter scale. The first ignition sticks like a handshake between men. Allow me, "The V". This is the name of the animal created by design star John Reed, which Custom Chrome Europe from Bad Kreuznach (phone 0671/888880, www.custom-chrome-europe.com) offers as a kit bike.
And according to the first impression, it continues. Those who do not let the clutch find the frictional connection very carefully will hear an almost indescribable whine. Must be like that, explain the people of Kreuznach. This clutch is specially designed for this performance. All the others would simply burn up in the face of the raw forces that this engine develops, especially between 3000 rpm and 5500 rpm.
But it was precisely with these forces that it was such a thing during the test drives. Because unfortunately everyone who really let the V off the leash, demanded speeds of over 3000 rpm and got on the handlebars
clawed, spitting and spluttering dropouts in the middle of the hell ride. They did not fit in with the unleashed violence at all. Only well beyond 4000 rpm did the test bench confirm a return to normal form (see curve), which culminated in the performance data described.
"Ignition module broken," was the diagnosis? After the repair, Custom Chrome Europe sent a curve with an exemplary course without any break. MOTORRAD is inclined to believe that. However, only our own measurements are binding for publication.
However, all equipment details of the V-Kit are not necessarily binding. In contrast to a motorcycle off the rack, the bike is sold unassembled and without painting at a price of 17,230 euros-
offered. Then there is the assembly and the
individual painting as well as the TÜV-
Decrease. In the box of the test machine, this adds up to around 25,500 euros. There-
for there is the V with the chassis components described (an appraisal for the Marchesini forged wheels is still pending), while customer requests can be taken into account for details such as the cockpit or mirrors.
But no matter how they turn out: The wild mix of cruiser and athlete attracts attention everywhere. And it reliably delivers a very unique, original driving pleasure that is difficult to classify into categories. THey V just. dry
