Driving report Hyosung GT 650 R

Upgraded

Two headlights arranged one above the other are the most noticeable feature of the new Hyosung GT 650 R. They form the icing on the cake of a bright red full paneling that hugs the tubular steel bridge frame and the
GT 650 Naked is now supposed to make a full-fledged sports motorcycle. Handlebar stubs fixed to the fork and a footrest system that can be adjusted in three positions help to achieve a sporty, but not uncomfortable sitting position. All of this is available at a price of just 5845 euros.
The competition can be jealous, especially since the Koreans respond to the criticism
on the chassis tuning and the shiftability of the transmission in the top test
the GT 650 Naked (MOTORRAD 10/2004) reacted promptly. In the “R” falls
the damping of the central spring strut is clear-
lighter, in return the upside-down fork is tighter. This results in a homogeneous set-up, the poor road surfaces and undulating curves even with a tough approach-
enters their horror. Steering precision, driving stability and neutral driving behavior of the GT 650 R are neat in connection with the mounted Bridgestone BT 56.
Modifications to the shift drum and the claws as well as weaker clutch springs ensure better shiftability and easier operation. Now the gears slide smoothly and precisely. The high leverage that the front brake requires are still a nuisance.
A Bos exhaust system was installed on the test machine. Not standard, but approved according to the importer and the right flavor enhancer for the pulsating, lively vibrating 90-degree V2 of the GT. In this combination, the eight-valve engine gains noticeably in strength in the middle speed range, so that the drive chain breaks even more forcefully than before. Achieving the full output of 73 hp at 9100 rpm is a tough undertaking, however. You can not have everything. nk
