Umerciless, merciless thrust. The progress is brutal, the arms are getting long and longer, you lose your breath. The test bench attested a violent 231 hp, drawing black lines the tire struggled to bring the power to the ground at least halfway. A turbocharger from MAB, supplied by the Pinneberg BMW dealer Bergmann, provides this kind of smoke & Sons implanted in the Bavarian naked bike. Completely legal, with the letter and seal of the TÜV including compliance with the strict Euro 3 emission values.
Even in the medium speed range, the increase in power is impressive. According to Bergmann, 250 hp should be possible, but one would hardly want to speak of a performance deficit of the test specimen in view of the monumental curve shape. With more boost pressure, even more power would be feasible, but Bergmann attaches importance to stability and drivability. In addition, a particularly small charger was used, which should benefit the characteristics.
The BMW chassis easily copes with the oversupply of power. The Turbo-K simply snaps forward, the long wheelbase ensures that the front wheel stays on the ground even under full load. Below the turbo boost, the K 1200 drives pretty normal. So you can swim with the traffic in the city very easily and without any ordinary noise. If you pull the gas to the limit, nothing happens at first. It always takes a second or two for pressure to build up in the intake system. But then the thrust comes all the more violent. If you go straight ahead, this second is perhaps predictable, but not very funny on winding roads. If you want to accelerate cleanly out of a curve in full banking, suddenly there is far too much. Anyone who insensitively turns the throttle continuously risks a high sider.
After the first moments of shock, you limit yourself to gently rolling around bends and only enjoying the thrilling thrust when you sprint straight ahead. Is it worth the considerable price in the long run? 8800 euros are due for parts including the conversion. gt
