Driving report Yamaha YZF-R125 (2019)

Real sports motorcycle

The youth want to be taken seriously! Yamaha understood this back in 2008 and implemented it very well. In 2019 the 3rd generation will roll out and we have already driven it.

With the Yamaha YZF-R125 in the 2019 model year is now the third generation with a thorough revision: The heavily pepped up four-valve single-cylinder engine is just one of the many innovations. It was equipped with a variable valve control of the intake valves in order to optimize the torque curve.

Faster and more economical

Yamaha

In the 2019 model year, the Yamaha YZF-R125 is in addition to blue and black "Neon" available.

According to legal regulations, 15 HP peak power may not be exceeded for the driving license class A1, but the new engine cleverly pushes this limit to the limit. The drive delivers better torque and enough flavor to commute at moderate speeds in city traffic. Nonetheless, he keeps his maneuverability for smooth curve surfing on open slopes. While the drive of the predecessor models always had to be kept happy above 7,000 rpm, the new engine has clearly gained in sovereignty.

The new Yamaha YZF-R125 is said to have become a bit more economical (it was not more than 2.5 liters in the previous model). Nevertheless, the 2019 Yamaha YZF-R125 delivers a sporty performance with a top speed of up to 134 km / h. This impression continues in the curvy terrain: the tighter the turns, the better for the mega-handy little racer! You sit high on the machine with a front wheel orientation, the feeling for the richly dampened front with the new 41 USD fork from KYB and the crisp brakes are unique in this class. More than what is offered here, 16-year-old young athletes can hardly ask for!
