The 800 Scrambler is a master stroke from Ducati. Riding perfectly on the vintage wave, the machine knows how to combine the fun side, a first-rate ease, the Ducati character, a bit of its history, and a simple and refreshing side. Something to delight everyone.
The only problem with this kind of motorcycle-girlfriend is that you quickly get caught up in the game and some will want more. More strength, more energy, more watts, more presence. For them, for lovers of big cubes, for those who do not want to classify in a category, here is the big Scrambler, with an 1100 in the belly.

Part of the authenticity of the Scrambler is its mechanics. A good old air-cooled desmo. The kind of engine Euro4 (and future standards) don’t like too much. Ducati has however succeeded in making pass its block of 1079 cm3 through the brimes of the standard. A twin that enthusiasts know well and which made the happiness of equivocal machines – the 1100 Monster (that of the revival of the model), the Hypermotard and the Multistrada. 2 valves per cylinder, cooling fins assisted by an oil cooler, that smells of the 80s and 90s. But behind the crankcase, Ducat ‘did what was necessary to homologate the block. It has lost power from the Monster Evo but its mid-range decanter will give you emotions that a modern block cannot imagine. More than the 86 horses, we will especially appreciate the gain in torque. About 9 mkg which will manifest itself with joviality in the most used diets. The weight remains more than reasonable with 189 kilos.

The other strength of the Scrambler is its plastic. Bologna took no risks and wisely gave stylistic strength to a proven figure. Suddenly, we instantly hit that it’s a Scrambler, and the larger size. The tubular steel trellis frame uses the same simple diagram but around it. The differences are notable: no pot under the engine but two silencers under the saddle, an aluminum swing arm, a better-made inverted fork, two brake discs instead of one, a more generous tank cover and a instrumentation richer in screen and information.

Old-fashioned heart and spirit but technological beyond the connecting rods. The 1100 Scrambler does not ignore digital news. So we find on board ABS, Driving Modes, traction control and other delicacies. One can expect a higher degree of finish while preserving the authenticity. The confrontation with the big engines of the segment turns out to be of any beauty.
