Ducati has decided to showcase its new color ‘Iceberg White’ for the XDiavel S. Unsurprisingly after such a name, we discover a layer of pearly white which covers all the trim pieces. A way for the Italian brand to mark its high standards and character in the world of custom and design. It is also the occasion to announce that the XDiavels coming in 2018 will benefit from an improved, more comfortable rear suspension. New color but an unchanged identity, still as strong. With a twin Testastretta inflated to 1262 cm3 and equipped with DVT variable valve timing. The result: 156 hp but above all a lot of torque available very early on.
And how does the Xdiavel S differ from the standard version? The manufacturer does not increase the level of performance but that of finish. The rims differ with a more dynamic design and polished spokes. The monobloc Brembo calipers are here M50s, fixed at the end of an inverted 50 mm fork which receives a DLC anti-friction treatment. The aluminum mirrors are machined. The headlight, entirely LED, is adorned with a luminous inverted U for DRL daytime running light. Let’s not forget the guest Bluetooth in the on-board electronics.
On the engine side, polishing work is carried out on the side casings. This distribution virtualization is reminiscent of similar work on the upcoming Brough Superior SS 100 from Boxer Design.
We finish with a special saddle made of two different materials and a brushed finish on the aluminum swingarm. No Ohlins? No, no Termignoni exhaust or carbon parts. But rest assured, the tariff extension will still hurt.
