Ducati 998 R 2002

Born 916 then become 996, the Superbike had undergone an impressive engine evolution with its R version. Thus appeared the famous Testastretta cylinder head. It will give birth to the 998, which itself exerts itself with this 998 R. The bike hardly changes visually.. Only the fairing (in carbon) is stripped of a large part of its gills, style started with the 996 R. On this machine, carbon is omnipresent, the suspensions adjustable in all directions are signed Ohlins, the wheels are in magnesium , and Brembo braking is 4 pistons but also 4 pads per caliper.
As you might expect, the best is inside. The twin of 998 cm3 displays super-square dimensions and is topped with the “narrow head” cylinder head inaugurated on the 996 R. Result: 139 hp in free version. At Ducat ‘, we pamper the happy owners by offering them a carbon exhaust line, and the small electronic box that goes well. With that, we add a lot of watts to the Italian twin.
Such a machine can only really be appreciated on the track. Power lives in the motorcycle. The boiler is really expressed from 6000 trs and tows with surprising vigor to the red zone … where the ignition cut occurs quickly. Be careful not to be surprised or we lose a lot of tenths.

Real Superbike decked out with a minimum of road fittings, the machine is very rigid, very physical, and will ask you the best of yourself. The setting of the chassis must be impeccable and the driver authoritative. He must work constantly, take him vigorously in curves and sequences. Once the piloting is mastered, the 998 R is a pure and simply enjoyable machine. Your gaze and your hands could then resemble those of Fogarty. The icing on the cake, the braking is striking. Without doubt one of the best of the current production. Remains an unreal price, like the dream conveyed by this exceptional motorcycle.
