Alongside the Cafe Racer, the Full Throttle is one of the more edgy variations of the 800 Scrambler. Way of speaking because both share the same 73 horses; like the whole range besides – which in 2020 received enough to pass the Euro5 standard. A small adaptation to be cleaner, more discreet, and this without compromising on performance. This Scrambler, you have to see it as a more rebellious machine, the one who lets himself grow a mustache, yells no matter what and eats white spirit at breakfast.
This evolution puts it much more in value. The yellow and black theme continues, in proportions much more present for the sun. The Scrambler gains much more presence, directly inspired by the Scrambler Flat Track of the Californian pilot Frankie Garcia; that we saw on the American Super Hooligan Championship 2018.
Beyond the decoration, the Full Throttle asserts itself with the addition of number plates, a new saddle, thicker aluminum tank panels, a matching seat backrest and machining on the rim sticks . The air-cooled twin receives a black treatment assisted by a brush stroke on the fins.
Ergonomically, the 800 Scrambler family has made an effort. The Full Throttle too. Its handlebars are lowered, the stems are improved, the suspension settings revised, the brake and clutch levers are now adjustable, the indicators turn off automatically and the clutch becomes hydraulically operated.
Ducati is taking advantage of the update to implement new functions: ABS cornering, the display of the fuel level and the gear engaged on the dashboard, a new visual signature in the headlight, and the transplant of the Ducati multimedia system. This allows the pilot to pair his smartphone and then listen to his playlists, answer incoming calls or chat with the passenger via intercom. What a bonus? Not quite. You will have to deal with 3 extra kilos.
This chapter is definitely more remarkable than the 2017 grooming, where Ducati’s vintage roadster got a revised tank and front fender. Let us recall for the occasion what distinguishes the Full Throttle from the Icon, the basic Scrambler: a little planer on the rear lightens the stern, the front fender is reduced to a simple sheet of plastic and the pognes grip a variable section handlebars lower than on the Icon. The twin desmo is expressed here through a double Termignoni outlet in the low position. What offer a voice more hoarse, more talkative, more virile. It comes at a price, but Ducat ‘customers are looking at a lot more than price. The Scrambler wants to offer a sporty touch on a daily basis, while keeping the lightness of mind of an adorable and irresistible scoundrel.
