In 2018, a new version joins the already well-supplied Ducati Scrambler family. And the Bologna firm would be wrong to deprive itself, as its toy has transformed neo-retro fashion into a real success story (and into a cash machine). The Ducati Scrambler has literally become a brand within the brand. It must be said that the little roadster does not lack charm with its nice face, its sparkling side and its refreshing simplicity imbued with seventies nostalgia..
This new “Street Classic” version is therefore the urban counterpart of the naughty Scrambler Classic. Darker, it is adorned with a Volcano Gray colorway that undermines its jovial side in a monochrome mix. Served with a ristretto espresso, it is no less enticing in its nighttime outfit. Because it retains the best attributes of the Classic. Spoked rims, aluminum tank sidewalls with tribute logo, specific Pirelli Dual Sport tires.
But they also bring some peculiarities. In addition to its dedicated color, the Street Classic features the engine packaging already used on the Scrambler Cafe Racer. Namely the black anodized cylinder heads and milled cooling fins. The thick vintage saddle changes from brown to ebony but retains its lovely aged look. The Classic’s aluminum mudguards disappear in favor of the more consensual equipment of the Icon or Mach 2.0 versions in this case. Ditto for the license plate holder which finds its place on the swingarm.
For the rest, you will find all the pep of the old desmo with air and two valves per cylinder. A mill that from the top of its 73 horses will not stick your eyes to the bottom of your sockets. It is by no means his will. But its nice little character transposed into this simple and fun machine will make you rediscover the pleasure of old-fashioned walks. And will offer you a parenthesis suspended in this old world where everything was slower, less complex, less stressed… ..and cheaper! Because despite a clear desire to promote classicism and simplicity, Ducati remains Ducati…. and the bill is slightly salty.
