Ducati Monster 797 (2017)

Entry-level monster

The Ducati Monster 797 is a delicious mid-range naked bike that could be particularly interesting for beginners.

Air-cooled Desmodue two-cylinder L-engine, Euro 4 compliant, six-speed gearbox, 55 kW (75 PS) at 8,250 / min and a maximum torque of 68 Newton meters at 5,750 / min – does that sound familiar? Then you probably already have the technical data of the current one D.ucati scrambler models to heart. The new Ducati Monster 797 uses this engine shelf. The Desmodue is integrated as a load-bearing component in the tubular space frame, the two-arm swing arm with side-mounted shock absorber is reminiscent of the Monster 696 from 2008.

Carefree and simple – this is what the new Ducati Monster 797 is supposed to stand for and thus attract especially beginners. The low seat height (805 mm), wide handlebars, Bosch ABS, Brembo brakes and, of course, Euro 4 should not only encourage newcomers to buy. Even the clutch operation, which Ducati says requires little effort, and its anti-hopping function look good not only on an entry-level motorcycle.

The Ducati Monster 797 emphasizes its relationship to the original from 1992 with a beefy tank, round headlights and tubular handles for the pillion passenger. On the other hand, the LCD instruments, LED indicators, the LED taillights and parking lights as well as the new handlebar fittings are modern.

As with the current Scrambler models, the new Ducati Monster 797 has service intervals of 12,000 km or once a year.
