J-One jacket, P-One pants and matching G-One gloves
Like any faithful reader of Le Repaire des Motards, you know that Tucano Urbano, the urban brand, has released a range of Adventure-style clothing under the new T.Ur. We will find a variety of products there, ranging from jackets (J-One and J-Two) to pants (P-One) through gloves (G-One), etc.. The range is based, among other things, on a logic of “interoperable” clothing; understand that they can carry with each other.
Trial of the T.UR adventure jacket, pants and gloves set
We tested the first model released by the brand with the J-One jacket, the POne pants and the G-One gloves. The outfit looks like this with an enduro / adventure jacket including a thermal lining that can be worn as a vest (rolled up in the back pocket, a rain jacket), pants with thermal lining (which cannot be worn). in shorts if you are wondering, do not overdo it) and a pair of matching gloves.
The T.UR J-One jacket
Discovery
The first observation on this model in its Dark-Blue version is the perceived quality. The jacket and the pants have leather inserts and the two red bands on the shoulders are the most beautiful effect. The mesh interior is quite comfortable to wear. In the end, you feel protected in this set, especially since the protections are present on the elbows, shoulders and knees. Everything is in D3O. We will add a back protector in the pocket provided for this purpose.
The integrated protections, especially on the shoulders, are in D3O
The vents, specific to this type of outfit, are placed on the forearms as an extension of the closure, at the level of the biceps (which I don’t have, but there are openings anyway). It will be found on the front of the jacket at the level of the pecs (which I don’t have either) and on the back. The legs are not left out with openings on the thighs. All this ensures an air flow that will be very useful to us in the spring with a good 18 degrees the day we took the photos. I do not hide from you that the heat felt when stationary (without the thermal linings) reassures me about the ability of the outfit to keep me warm in the middle of winter.
The adjustments are numerous (arms, thighs, waist). On the other hand the choice, aesthetic certainly, to place them at the level of certain ventilations makes the handling of the latter a little complicated sometimes when one is wearing one’s gloves..
There are snap closures on the front of the jacket and at the sleeves. It is once again at this level (we had seen it on models of other brands) that the shoe pinches. Indeed the degree of adjustment of the closures at the wrists makes the adjustment complicated to make the junction with the glove effective. We struggle a bit. The future of this long-term test will tell us if this first a priori is confirmed or not..
There are multiple clamping elements
Side pockets we are served. Exterior and interior pockets, some waterproof. You will easily be able to store your papers, keys and phone without a second thought. Once again, the forced bath at the fording is not yet in the battery of tests, but in case, we will take care to secure a little more its precious load by a waterproof pouch. The back pocket is important and can accommodate, for example, the rain jacket. We will be amazed at some of the liberties taken on the modes of closure: some pockets close with a zip, others with press studs, others with a magnet and a micrometric closure at the neoprene collar…. why not !
Many pockets are available
The comfort felt once equipped and perched on his faithful steed is simply perfect and without appeal. We have already had the opportunity to stack a few trips while wearing the outfit and did not feel any discomfort in the movements. The feeling of protection is very pleasant and movements on the motorcycle are easy.
On the technical side, we are using a jacket mainly made of Cordura (with leather inserts). The protections (shoulders, elbows, knees) are in D3O. The only regret is the size (too small) of the location for the backbone. Suddenly the latter stops too high in the back. I would have liked to have felt more protected from this point of view. Note also the presence of a strap on the left shoulder which allows to fix, for example, a clip for action cam.
T.UR G-One gloves
Gloves have the same characteristics as the outfit in terms of material choices and aesthetic choices. Just like the outfit, the comfort felt is real.
Aesthetically the jacket is a bit off the beaten track. No more classic black, gray and sand adventure outfits, we opt here for a mix of blue / gray with asymmetrical red stripes (only right shoulder) which we have a reminder on the gloves. Italian elegance participates here in the felt comfort and I suspect the Tucano Urbano brand of having worn and used its years of experience in urban clothing to make a product that conforms to the same specifications of elegance and protection. The little touch of sport is here with a measured taste, contrasting with the approach of certain other equipment manufacturers.
The style proposed by the T.UR ensemble goes off the beaten track
Long-term test in progress
After several use, several points appear to us. On the positive side, we especially remember the comfort of the outfit. With or without the thermal vest, pants and jacket are very comfortable to wear. The materials are rewarding and the whole is light to wear (leather inserts, flexible materials, etc.). The closure at the neck is pleasant and protects effectively.
The adjustments work well and are numerous enough to be comfortable. The air inlets and panels are numerous enough to generate drafts. One quickly finds, in great heat, a flow of air allowing to have a little fresh. On the other hand, the openings placed on the sleeves pass under the adjustment straps. Suddenly this makes the opening complicated. For the openings on the front, the zips are not easy to find.
The ventilation system is complete
Last point: the visibility is bluffing. The reflective strips do a dazzling job (that is to say). We are therefore VERY well seen at night and this will reassure the late traveler. On the other hand, the reflective material tends to fall apart at the shoulders. Point to follow.
The general look, very different from the usual touring / adv outfits, is very nice. The red leather inserts on the shoulders, the action camera attachment strap contribute to the overall originality of the outfit.
Trial of the T.UR adventure set
The regret I have is that the outfit is not of waterproof origin. I have not yet tested it in fording but suddenly we can think that we are more on a touring outfit than Adventure.
The jacket costs 409.02 euros and the pants 204.10 euros (retail price of the manufacturer who likes commas). So for 613.12E you have a rather original outfit in design and very comfortable to wear. The scheduled roadtrip and offroad hike will allow us to explore certain points in depth, particularly in terms of waterproofing..
