A first-aid kit is also mandatory for motorcyclists in Austria, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Although the regulation is rarely checked, it also applies to German bikers when they are out and about in these countries. Quite apart from all duties, however, it simply makes sense to have a small emergency supply of bandages under the seat, in the tank or driver’s rucksack. The packages offered by Polo, Hein Gericke and Louis are hardly larger and only slightly heavier than two packets of cigarettes, but cost less. In addition to gauze bandages, bandages and two pairs of latex gloves (tip: these can also be useful for emergency repairs on the roadside), they also contain an aluminum rescue blanket in accordance with DIN regulations. If you want, you can add ordinary plasters as a useful addition. The standard not only stipulates the content, but also that it must be water- and dust-tight and hygienically packaged.
