Sebastien Gimbert confirms his return to the French Superbike Championship next year aboard the Yamaha GMT 94. The team of Christophe Guyot, who keeps a bike in the World Superbike with David Checa, will continue to compete in Le Mans and Bol.

"It is with great pleasure that I come back to compete in the French championship within my team, GMT 94", explains Sebastien Gimbert by confirming his return to the French Superbike championship (FSBK) for next season (read and), which he claims to live rather well.

"After four years of SBK Worlds, I am very happy to find the same format with two races per weekend and the superpole", continues Sebastien:"I took part in the French championship for the last time in 2004, missing a few races because at the same time I was competing in the world endurance championship, always with the GMT Yamaha. The championship has evolved a lot in the media. So it’s a real challenge for me and Yamaha. In addition, this year there is the all new R1! For all these reasons, I am over-motivated and impatient to find the French circuits, the public, and I will obviously do my best to try to win !"

Christophe Guyot, the GMT team manager, believes for his part that Sebastien has "hungry for podiums and victories"and that he will therefore"everything to mark the history of a championship which will begin on April 4, 2009 on the Ledenon circuit". Christophe is also delighted that Sebastien’s return to FSBK shows that"we have nothing to envy to the British and American championships".

The GMT, which will be "always present at the highest international level"with the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Bol d’Or and the Superbike World Championship with David Checa. But"we must mark our presence in a national championship which is becoming more and more important", considers Christophe. The GMT will also reinforce its support for Mathieu Ginès in Supersport (vice-champion of France 2008 on the handlebars of his Yamaha R6) and will welcome the very young Arnaud Restani in the Junior Pirelli Cup,"an important discipline to allow the emergence of tomorrow’s talents".
