If the standard Road King takes care of taking you cruising on the long highways with a less liner style than the Electra Glide, its Classic version takes care of this mission with a more retro flavor. Even before getting on it, the charm acts. Chrome, whitewall tires, a large windshield without fork head that would weigh down the line, leather cases (rigid on the standard King) to take some luggage, a comfortable seat and a devastating look…. no doubt, you are on one of those road ships that are the pride of America. The wide handlebars, long steps and large windshield allow senatorial driving. For purists preferring the whipping of the wind, it only takes a few moments to dismantle the windshield and thus give pride of place to the superb headlight cowling and this magnificent triple-optic facies. The fleece ride of the Road King Classic is now tasted with even more cream on the cake: the 1584 has been replaced for 2 years by the more torquey 1690. Indeed, Harley decided in 2011 to equip all its Touring models with the Twin Cam 103. A block which gives much more ease to these heavy road vehicles, seconded by 1 mkg and 10 horses more than the 96. Road holding improved notably in 2009 thanks to a new chassis adopted by the entire Touring range. 30% more rigidity for a more serene ride. The contained vibrations, the velvet of the cruising and the silhouette with the nostalgic scent of the Classic will give you allure without having to force the pace. From 2008, safety had already gained a notch with a particularly well integrated ABS, now fitted as standard.
