In the cinematic masterpiece “Viva Knievel” from 1976 stunt driver Evel Knievel – he plays himself – frees his mechanic from the mill. To do this, he uses a 1000 Ironhead Sportster that has been converted into a US federal eagle, drives it through a standard door, tears off the right wing, which has grown back miraculously in the next scene, shoots the door lock with a revolver and frees his friend. Film history. The vehicle called the Stratocycle made its only appearance in this scene, but the Vogel bike still became famous. And expensive as it seems: an auction now requires a minimum bid of $ 100,000.

Evel Knievels Stratocycle for $ 500

The one-time conversion of the Ironhead Sportster is the real bike from the film. This is evidenced by the original invoice dated August 14, 1978, which confirms the sale to a Harley dealer in Los Angeles for a whopping 500 dollars, converted today and adjusted for inflation, a good 2,400 euros. Still cheap compared to the $ 100,000 minimum bid. Interesting: The Stratocycle was already sold in 2018, at that time a sales price of 200,000 to 300,000 dollars was rumored.

First, second and …! Who would buy a motorcycle at a real auction??

I don’t do anything else.

A little thrill would be great.

Conclusion

A bizarre one-off is for sale in California. An old film motorcycle from Evel Knievel in the eagle look. $ 100,000 is an official price. Against the background of the halving for the sale in 2018, quite a crash landing, which brings us back to the broken bone king Evel Knievel.
