In the land of Harley-Davidson, excess and the road go hand in hand. Almost a monument of long-distance travel, the Electra Glide is emblematic for the manufacturer but its most serious rival is evolving here and alongside it: the Street Glide. Typed bagger rather than cruiser-GT, the Street imposes less than the exuberant Electra and it succeeds. This is the best-selling model at HD.

Allure, a desire for the essential, and a very special charm almost beyond mechanical expression. Riding a Harley has almost become a philosophy, particularly committed to authenticity. This does not prevent the machine from evolving over time while maintaining an aesthetic almost identical to each generation. Style remains, technology evolves. After the improvements over a good decade (reinforced frame, optimized braking, larger tank, ABS, new 6-speed gearbox, constantly increasing twin cubic capacity), the Street wins a new and copious series of improvements with the “Rushmore” project “. The Twin Cam is one of the lucky winners of this policy. We do not find here the partially liquid cooled version (reserved for the Ultra Limited) but something all the same spicier than the 103 of the old version. Called High Output, the 1690 cm3 twin has a new camshaft that allows it to develop 5% more torque. The clutch springs have been strengthened without affecting the left hand; the hydraulic control has been revised accordingly.

The entire Touring range, and therefore the Street Glide here, gains a 49 mm fork instead of the 43.1 mm and a readjusted damping. New Reflex brakes balancing front / rear braking complement the ABS. 10 spoke cast aluminum wheels are lighter and stiffer.
To this must be added the priority of the Rushmore Project: accreditation. For this, the almost sacred Batwing fairing has been retouched: a slot at the base of the mini windshield appears, reducing turbulence around the pilot. We can thus better enjoy the entire BOOM BOX 4.3 audio system. A name justified by the size of its screen. This multimedia environment is positioned as a benchmark, only dethroned by the touch 6.5 installed on the Ultra Limited and the Tri-Glide. BOOM has 25 watts per channel, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, supports CB radio and voice activated intercom function. Bonus, a double set of controls: all the functions are controlled from the buttons on the front panel or via the joysticks attached to the controls.
One of the characteristic features of the Street Glide is its facies with a broad forehead and a single eye. The headlight is a double halogen model, much more efficient in fog. The must is for the moment reserved for more ostentatious models, such as the Ultra Limited or the Classic, adorned with the new Daymaker with double lens and LED system..

Traveling light also rhymes with a certain practicality aboard the Street. The suitcases gain 8% loading capacity and the new One-Touch buttons (on the fuel cap, saddlebags and other hatches) allow easy opening / closing at the touch of a button. While driving, the pleasure is exchanged between the vibrations of the big twin towing as it can this heavy bagger, the superb dashboard worthy of a vintage Cadillac, and the timeless charm of a Harley.
