Honda CB 600 F HORNET 2006

Honda cherishes its favorite hornet * and he’s right. This hot little roadster is the favorite model of Europeans, claiming the title of best-selling motorcycle on the continent. So, it’s no wonder that the manufacturer honors it with the same attention as its flagship models.. Appeared in 1998 on the market and re-lifted in 2003, the 600 Hornet was re-visited only 2 years later, i.e. the same tempo as the sports CBR 600 and Fireblade.
The most remarkable element of this evolution: the fork. A 41mm diameter inverted model closely derived from the CBR 600 RR but devoid of adjustment. A plus for rigidity, guidance and road holding, which also particularly enhances the little scabbard. Compared to the old Hornet, the tubes are spaced an additional 10mm in the tees. Due to the presence of this new element, the steering column has been adapted by the addition of a reinforcement. This new front axle also required an overhaul of the mudguard.
Above the optical unit (unchanged) is grafted a mini body-colored headlight cover that matches the brand new dashboard. A very sporty instrumentation which is directly identified with that of the CBR 600 F, equipped with a digital window and an analog tachometer circled in chrome for the most beautiful effect. A small display of the engine temperature is discreetly embedded in it. Main digital screen displays speed, fuel gauge, time, total mileage and 2 partial trips.
No change for the rest of the aesthetic line but a new saddle with different coverings (more grip and comfort at the level of the pilot and passenger seat) and which can be ordered in a version lowered by 20 mm (c ‘ is an option).
The thruster does not change. It is still the block of the CBR 600 97, retouched for more pleasure at low speeds during its transplantation in the Hornet. This 2005 version benefits from modified admission conduits and revised mapping; All this, according to Honda, in order to improve progressivity when exiting a turn and reduce inertia during acceleration.
A new front axle that throws some small alterations and here is the nice 600 Hornet transformed into a little scoundrel. The options offered will allow you to transform this roadster to the sauce “Fast & Furious”.

Everything is a matter of suspensions. Honda will have taken the time to equip the little Hornet with quality components – better late than never. We will immediately get to the heart of the matter because in terms of reception, the Honda has not changed: the driver is installed in a completely natural way (a bit leaning on the handlebars), inviting neophyte as a connoisseur to ride or to have fun. Whether it’s a work trip or a sport session, the scoundrel roadster has finally found a way to drive it. The front axle is much more efficient and is no longer manhandled by the defects of the road. Now reversed (especially for the look), the fork gains in firmness and precision. The rear damping is symbiotized with the front so as not to suffer but to control mass transfers on heavy braking – when gas is given again, the mono-shock absorber however has a little trouble collecting. From a handling standpoint, the Hornet took a nice step forward, reveling in the difficulties of the road. We can now drive with a bleeding attack, the machine playing with you instead of accepting its fate with more or less a smile … To take advantage of it, it is always necessary to bring the mill into the towers. For fun, salvation is only in high speeds. The ex-sportswoman then honors you with virile acceleration until the needle hits the red.

A nice fork and a rigorous road in clear progress will they be enough to ensure the durability of the 600 Hornet? The bet is not won, especially as the competition is incredibly prolific and fierce. In addition, the Hornet is closer to the end than the beginning of its career. Its love rating is however still in good shape, and we can only congratulate Honda for finally giving this 600 the attributes it needed..

* In English, Hornet means Hornet.
