Honda CB 650 F (2017)
Classic values presented in a modern way
Round headlights, rear bumper and stereo struts have been out of fashion for a while, and the Honda CB 650 F certainly doesn’t mourn that time. Nevertheless, the mid-range four-cylinder retains classic, timeless values such as uncomplicated handling, confident acceleration and sufficient reserves for special conditions. For 2017 there is 4 HP more peak power.
The nickname "Hornet" has the Honda C.B 650 F never officially worn, at least in Germany; maybe he sounded too offensive on the surface. The naked bike can attack with tough facts: Honda wants the 2017 vintage to have 3 kW / 4 hp more peak power. Larger intake paths supply the airbox with more air, while shorter inlet ports to the four 32 mm throttle valves improve throughput at high speeds. Thanks to only two instead of three chambers and a larger mouth, the silencer builds up less back pressure than in the previous year’s model. The reward for these measures is 67 kW (91 PS) at 11,000 rpm and – at least that is what Honda promises – optimized intake and driving noise.
The Honda CB 650 F has a shorter gear ratio in gears 2 to 5. According to the manufacturer, this should be reflected in significantly better acceleration values: Accelerated from 60 km / h over 200 meters in second gear, the 2017 Honda CB 650 F allegedly takes three motorcycle lengths from its predecessor. And in spite of its revving, it should start clean and jerk-free from 1200 rpm in 6th gear.
Optical retouching for the new model year has been made to the side panels and the lamp mask of the Honda CB 650 F, among other things. The driver sits a little further forward and grabs a flatter handlebar.
