Honda CBR 600 RR 2005

VSThere it is, Honda has just unveiled the evolution of the CBR 600 RR for 2005. What the best for the track, which displays its new colors without restraint. With a style like this, it’s impossible not to be noticed. We can not appreciate but it throws.
The pencil of the designer responsible for the fairing mainly focused on the fork crown and the rear shell of the CBR. The front face is retouched in terms of optics, subtly redesigned, and forced air intake ducts, more inspired by those of the 1000 RR (or the latest generation of RCV 211, it’s your choice ). The ventilation holes adorning the saddle on both sides are more prominent. Behind, under the saddle, the pot is always hidden in a central position, lightened for the occasion. More light … a diet for the Honda ?
Well yes, like the girlfriends. The CBR still loses weight – almost 5 kilos – going down to just 2 kilos of the lightest sports cars today. We won on the chassis, engine, exhaust, other parts … and we took the opportunity to change the front axle. A new 41 mm inverted fork is now included in which radial fixing brake calipers are added (soon, no one will escape it …). With its cast aluminum frame and huge swingarm, the 600 RR maintains our confidence in its handling..
Engine manufacturers seem to have abandoned the arms race. They preferred to improve the torque and power curves to promote increased efficiency and a fuller engine at mid-range. The 4-cylinder, although unchanged, still got new injectors and new molybdenum coated pistons..
Dixit Honda, priority has been given to improving the dynamics of the bike. No excessive horsepower but increased maneuverability and liveliness. Will this choice be a master asset for the big game in 2005? ?

HONDA CBR 600 RRNOTegociating a corner exit at mid-speed on a 600 sport, it is almost certain to end up with a lymphatic boost. More or less unpleasant on the road, this factor is essential on the track. And in this game, the work of Honda engineers pays off. Retaining its sporty character since its redesign in 2003, the boiler of the 600 RR has gained potential on lower revs. Its power curve is slightly more homogeneous and filled. The first operating zone begins at around 5,000 rpm and then grows stronger at around 7,000 rpm. However, it is only around 10,000 that we find the large watts, with however a slice lacking a little consistency between 8 and 10,000 trs. That said, the engine block somewhat “inflated” in the mid revs should energize the windings on open roads. As mentioned above, the maximum power does not change, the 4 cylinders still developing 116 hp at the output of the crankshaft. Enough watts to go fast, very fast, and probably a little more than the previous version; 5 kilos less should allow to gain a slight handful of km / h.
Where we have not gained anything, it is in space on board. Space is counted, the driving position identical and intended for optimum efficiency – on the new RR, it’s like on the old RR. Thus, we find its marks, its sensations, and we see a little more liveliness on the part of the machine. Less weight, that’s the real thing … This is perfect to complete the improvement of the front axle.
Big braking. With the new calipers and a more progressive fork when put under stress, you can hit harder and later in the brakes. The CBR then enters the turn faster without worrying the pilot. The excellent tires take care of communicating the terrain and the limits allowed when you approach it. Better controlled sinking, increased progressiveness, improved braking (great front, even better now), the new front of the 600 RR is a very rigorous tool..
A lot of work and a dose of extra efficiency for the new CBR 600 RR, which will delight both trackers and amateurs. Already an excellent machine and Supersport champion, the Honda intends not to give in to the competition. The green threat is very serious, however. The new ZX-6RR has gained a lot of watts. Will the CBR chassis make the difference? ?
