Lightweight, handy, toxic: The Honda Hornet is a sporty naked bike that loves high speeds. Nevertheless, it offers a lot of everyday use.
In the meantime, the Naked Bike was allowed to decorate with the title "Best Sold Motorcycle in Europe". Now the 600 moderate manufactured in Italy was revised. The eye is above all the fresh color variants of the Japanese available from 7690 euros.
No change was made on the self-confident appearance of the machine. Italian designers were significantly involved in the emergence of the current variant, which can be read, among other things, on the momentum of the four exhaust manifolds. While the optics should remember the 70s, the construction of mass centralization serves in favor of a better handling. The exhaust gases are initiated only via a link below the engine, before turning on the right from the short stub exhaust – with rather soy sound.
High speeds desired
The sound in the 599 CCM four-cylinder engine, which makes 102 hp at 12,000 rpm and provides a maximum torque of 64 nm at 10 500 rpm. In doing so, you realize the aggregate that it was developed parallel to the drive of the Honda CBR 600 RR. Because even if the vote for the Hornet was mainly aligned with a stronger torque in the lower to medium sector as well as a faster acceleration, the sporting genes are noticeable. Turning speeds until far in the five-digit area, the hornets do not make any problems before, but it becomes lively at 5,000 rpm. Beyond 10 000 tours and up to the red range beginning at 13 000 revolutions, the up to 230 km / h rapidly progresses Hornet in the future.
Nevertheless, the Honda also dominates the art of shifting driving style. Thus, you have the choice whether three gears are switched down on the outskirts or casually accelerates in great corridor, without the engine fueled by an injection needed to torture. Then in turn, the consumption is limited, which lies on average at 5.9 liters of normal benzine, which allows stages of over 300 kilometers in combination with the 19 liter tank.

For the current model year, the Honda was above all visually developed. In addition to the new instrument design of the cockpit, this is especially the changed shades of metallic parts such as fork, frame and swinging to the eye – as well as the advanced color palette, which now includes four variants. As a particularly successful one can call the white version – also because "Pearl Cool White" can additionally score with contrasting stripes on tank, bench and laterally on the spotlight. New talents were also given to the chassis. The suspension can now be set in front as a rear, which facilitates the two-person operation or vacation tours with luggage. However, one should set an ABS regardless of the purpose, even if it costs 700 euros surcharge.
More than ten years after your debut, the Hornet remains a fixed size among the sporty naked bikes. Even if she tends in the area of streetfighters with her aggressive styling, she is her essence after yet an all-rounder with meaningful everyday talents.
