Honda Road Sync currently only works on Android phones and as an option on the 2021 models of the X-ADV, CB 1000 R, Forza 750 and 350. So the models with the new TFT display.

Telephoning is also possible, although the Forza 350 only has the system as an option and even then not with all functions: The voice control of the navigation system does not work.

Honda Road Sync app with voice control

Champion of the analog: Read on without fail. Now your world is being shaken. Honda now allows some models to be operated by voice control. The new Honda Road Sync app is used for this.

Listen to music, operate the navigation system, make phone calls, dictate messages and keep an eye on the weather forecast. All of this can now be controlled using the Road Sync app from Honda, your own smartphone and a headset on the 2021 models CB 1000 R, X-ADV, Forza 750 and, as an option, in the Forza 350. Road Sync is now available free of charge in the Google Play Store for Android systems from version 7.0. A version for Apple is to follow.

Honda Road Sync voice control: it’s possible
Honda’s new, bespoke connectivity system for motorcycles and scooters gives riders access to the most frequently used functions on their Android smartphones. The ‘Honda Smartphone Voice Control System’ is standard on the 2021 models of the X-ADV, CB1000R, the new Forza 750 and optionally in Forza 350 available. The free Honda RoadSync app was developed for use in conjunction with the Honda Smartphone Voice Control System and will be available for download across Europe from December 2020. The following functions can then be controlled via the TFT display by voice or in combination with the joystick on the hand mixer:
- Easy navigation via Google Maps to saved destinations or the entry of individual destinations using the voice control. The information from the navigation system is shown on the TFT display.
- Make and answer phone calls. Here the speed dial memory of the app can be used with five contacts, a contact can be searched for using voice control or the number can be dialed directly. Incoming calls are shown on the motorcycle’s display.
- Generate and reply to messages. This works with the services SMS, Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger, by voice and converts incoming messages into a voice message.
- Listen to music through your favorite streaming app and control the volume with the joystick.
- Get the local weather forecast for the day and, if you are using navigation, the weather forecast for your destination.

Everyone has to decide for themselves whether they want to be available at any time by message on the motorbike. The function is always comfortable.
Honda Road Sync: this is how it works
Anyone who owns one of the compatible two-wheelers from Honda and has an up-to-date smartphone with a Google system, i.e. Android, can download the Honda Road Sync app free of charge from the Google Play Store. The motorcycle’s TFT display and a headset in the helmet can then be connected via Bluetooth. The system is then activated either before departure with a few direct applications, such as loading the desired music on the smartphone. The other functions can then be controlled while driving either by voice control or using the new 4-way joystick on the left hand control.

For whom is it good?
Honda doesn’t say it explicitly, but the app and its functions seem to be very much designed for use in urban areas or by long-distance commuters. This is supported by the fact that the most important communications can also be made from the app’s speed dial memory or from pre-made messages. A possible intercom function from bike to bike seems theoretically possible, but practice also shows that the dead spots on the house track are even larger than the potholes.

I would definitely wish.
I can do without it completely.
Conclusion
Either way: Everything is getting smarter and the functions that make sense in this case increase digital convenience enormously and possibly also bring a little more security. The most important point for aesthetes: the sweary, revealing navigation system and holder on the bike can finally be removed again, even if Google Maps may not know the best routes on two wheels.
