IDM changes regulations for the 600 class
Stock sport rating for former R6 Cup drivers
After Yamaha put the R6 Cup on hold, the IDM wants to offer the former Cup drivers a new home in a new Superstock ranking in the 600s.
Uli Baumann
01/25/2018
After talks between the IDM and the DMSB, the IDM will expand the regulations of the IDM Supersport 600 from 2017 for the 2018 season to include a stock sport rating, which should be tailor-made for former R6 Cup drivers. Of course, Supersport models from other IDM pool brands are also permitted, for example a Honda CBR 600 RR, Kawasaki ZX-6R or a Suzuki GSX-R 600. In addition, the IDM’s new Superstock 600 rating is also available for B license holders be open.
Karsten Bartschat, Head of Technology IDM of the MOTORRAD action team: “Good solution, especially for the Ex-R6 Cupper! Due to a not inconsiderable number of inquiries from the 2017 R6 Cups, it was clear that the desire to continue driving in the familiar IDM environment dominated. The constructive meeting at the DMSB, at which pretty much all the possibilities were discussed, brought about a pragmatic solution from our point of view. “

Superstock 600 regulations still in progress
Jahn
The new Superstock class should also offer a home to the R6 Cup drivers.
The regulations for the Superstock 600 are currently in work, but in principle only things should be approved that are really useful for the predominantly young participants in the sense of additional learning and that have a reasonable price-performance ratio. The races are carried out together, the ratings are separated according to Superstock, where a DMSB Cup championship title is won, and Supersport.
The Supersport 300 will also choose an international German champion in the 2018 season. The popular entry-level class is therefore experiencing a significant upgrade. In general, the interest in the 600 and 300 class is currently really enormous. Especially for the 300 series, IDM series manager Normann Broy receives calls with inquiries every day, especially from the Netherlands.
The Superbike 1000, top class of the IDM, will continue to be advertised according to the well-known stock sport rules, but there is a detailed technical wish list for the teams and drivers from 2017. The organizers are currently examining what can be included in the regulations.
The announcement for the IDM classes Superbike 1000, Supersport 600 and Superstock 600 or Supersport 300 should be available for download shortly (planned from 01/26/2018) www.idm.de be released.
