Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki n ° 1), 1st with 37 pts
"It was a very positive weekend, I had a good feeling on the bike here and I was able to make the most of it. To have two wins makes me really happy. I want to thank the whole team, she always believed in it and kept giving it away. We never stopped thinking that this weekend was the perfect opportunity to win. Given our level in the past, the way our bike works here and my way to drive: it was our chance. So we had to take it, and I did, in both races. It was positive, unfortunately the third race was canceled due to the weather. I fully understand and I am sure we will have new opportunities ".
Alvaro Bautista (Ducati n ° 19), 2nd with 27 pts
"Too bad the bad weather affected the second race, as it was raining very hard. The condition of the circuit was dangerous, with lots of water in some places and streams crossing the track. It was too risky for the riders. and it was the right decision to cancel the race. We feel really bad because we know there are a lot of Superbike fans here, but the safety of the riders is the most important aspect. amazing to have the support of all the Ducatists and even though I didn’t win a race it was one of the best weekends of my whole career because I really felt their presence. that I’m a little sorry, but I think they will understand the situation ".
Michael van der Mark (Yamaha n ° 60), 3rd with 19 pts
“We changed the bike quite a bit for the Superpole race and I immediately felt the bike was better, especially on the points we wanted to improve after yesterday’s round. confidence and my pace was much faster. I got off to a good start and had a little battle at the start, but suddenly I lost contact with Alvaro who managed to widen a gap that I did. didn‘t have time to fill in. I had a good lead over the guys behind me and while it wasn’t the most exciting race I’ve ever done, I was really happy with how I felt on the bike and my pace. Unfortunately we didn’t have the opportunity to take advantage of the improvements in the second run this afternoon, because it was canceled due to the weather. It’s a shame because we wanted to ride, and that everyone who had braved the bad weather to be here wanted to see us run, but with all this you stagnant water on the track, it was not reasonable ".
Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kawasaki n ° 54), 3rd with 19 pts
"I’m happy to be on the podium at Imola because it’s the home race for my team and Manuel Puccetti. It was my best weekend of the season so far. Friday we found a good set up for my bike and I was able to push to the limit. I had a good Superpole race today but unfortunately didn’t make the right tire choice and ended up losing a few places . The second round did not take place because of the rain. There was too much water on the track and the visibility was really bad during the reconnaissance lap. I am very satisfied with what we did here and I hope to continue like this on the next event in Jerez ".
Leon Haslam (Kawasaki n ° 91), 4th with 15 pts
"I had exactly the same problem as in the first run. I couldn’t overtake, I couldn’t even follow guys. When I had the track clear I could go really fast. Compared to Jonathan, we we lose under braking but the good thing is that in the corners, in the exits, and in terms of adapting my style in other areas, we made good progress. Jonathan is very good here and I knew that this would be a tough weekend, trying to adjust my riding, but it was a lot harder than expected. Fifth and sixth places will do. ".
Alex Lowes (Yamaha n ° 22), 5th with 14 pts
“The bike did very well in the Superpole race. I had a good fight with Leon (Haslam) and Toprak (Razgatlioglu) at the start of the race, before widening a little gap. My best laps were towards the end of the race and I felt that, maybe, if I had been able to break free earlier, I could have fought with Michael (van der Mark). But the fact that we finished fourth and fifth on a circuit known to be difficult for us , shows how much we have improved. It gives me a lot of confidence for the future: we were very competitive on what was probably our worst track last year. I’m really happy with this weekend. J was a little sick, but I’m very proud of the way I handled the situation and come away with quite a few points. Many thanks to all the fans who came this weekend, but especially today Luckily they got to see the Superpole race and then a thrilling Supersport race, but it was a shame that ‘they miss the second Superbike round because of the weather conditions. There was a lot of rain in a short period of time and there was a lot of standing water on the trail. This circuit has a few turns in third and fourth, which are very fast, and that‘s exactly where the standing water used to collect. It just wasn’t safe enough to run on a motorcycle, surrounded by other riders and at these speeds. ".
Marcus Reiterberger (BMW n ° 28), 11th with 6 pts
“This morning’s Warm-up was our first outing in the rain with the new RR and I had a good feeling. The conditions were mixed for the Superpole race. It was mostly dry with some wet areas, and we had took the risk of going for the very soft tire. Unfortunately the tire wear was quite heavy towards the end, but I managed to cross the finish line in tenth position. It took a long time to get there. whether we would have a second run or not, it would have been important for us to gain experience in the rain, but the decision to cancel made sense from a safety point of view because it was really borderline. Overall, we learned a lot at Imola and we will be checking a lot of things during testing to help us keep improving. Thanks to the team for their hard work which will pay off. ".
Ryuichi Kiyonari (Honda n ° 23), 14th with 2 pts
"I admit that it was a shame to miss the opportunity to run in the rain because this morning, in the Warm-up, I felt very good on the bike with the wet asphalt, I could go pretty fast. was looking forward to trying to get a better result in the race. That said, I understand that sometimes you have to comply with difficult decisions for yourself, especially if they are made for safety. If something happens. badly, it would be impossible to go back in time. So in the end, I think canceling the race was the right decision. ".
