Kalashnikov Cafe Racer: Not a weapon, but an electronic heart

Kalashnikov Cafe Racer

Not a weapon, but an electric heart

The Russian group Kalashnikov is best known for its firearms. Another electric motorcycle prototype has now been presented under the Kalashinkov label.

E.Kalashnikov had already left the first footprints in the field of electric motorcycles in 2017 and 2018. The Russians had presented a police motorcycle under the brand IZH as well as a naked bike and an enduro for military use. Now Kalashnikov has presented the prototype of an electric motorcycle in the style of a cafe racer.

Labeled again as a model of the IZH brand, the Cafe Racer appears very consistently drawn. The backbone is a steel double loop frame. A large, fully disguised, unspecified battery pack hangs in it. Behind it, just before the pivot point, is a 50 kW electric motor that drives the rear wheel via a chain. The tubular steel swing arm with beam is supported on the frame by two spring struts. At the front, the Russians rely on a conventional telescopic fork with bellows. The wheels put on wire-spoke rims with balloon-shaped tires. Disc brakes are used on both axles to decelerate – at the front in combination with six-piston pliers.

Leather as a style element

The driver sits on a leather seat bench with an LED rear light. Small leather bags hang in the frame triangles. Even the elongated dummy fuel tank in front of the driver was covered in two-tone leather. The driver’s workplace is characterized by a digital round instrument, two steering stubs with handlebar end mirrors and a circular LED headlight. The front and rear fenders are only rudimentary.

Kalashnikov does not provide any information about a possible production of the Cafe Racer.
