It drives, it swims, it looks terrible

One Royal Enfield Himalayan or a Land Rover Defender are often equated with: They take you everywhere. Slowly but surely. The KSM prototype from 1989 with a Honda engine, a rubber track and two side arms will definitely get you anywhere. The part can even swim. Not pretty, but rare: inventor Bronislaw Kadela from Edmonton, Canada has only made one copy. And that’s exactly what is now for sale at Iconic Motorbike Auctions. Price: $ 5,350. Condition: Wiping over it is not enough.

KSM Innovation All Terrain

In 1989, inventor Bronislaw Kadela from Edmonton, Canada applied for a patent for his prototype. It is powered by a 125 cc Honda engine. The little motor sits in a light tubular frame under a lush, waterproof body and drives the central, heavily profiled rubber caterpillar via a chain. The body also serves as a floating body, because Kadela designed an amphibious vehicle. So that it doesn’t capsize in the water or swamp or stumble on land, two outriggers ensure stability.

Difficult condition

Various documents show that Kadela had already reached an agreement with Honda about a production. Why the all-terrain vehicle will ultimately remain a one-off is unclear. The new owner can definitely look forward to a unique vehicle, but should be familiar with GRP work.

Conclusion

Wonderful weird things come from inventor workshops around the world. A GRP lump with a Honda engine and caterpillar drive as an amphibious vehicle. The exact environmental variables for an operation are not entirely clear, perhaps a trip to the forests of Canada will clarify the potential of the KSM part.
