KTM 125 Duke (2017)

Duty and free choice

The KTM 125 Duke presented at the EICMA 2016, the successful Leichkraft-Naked from Austria, has been thoroughly revised for the 2017 model year.

The mere fulfillment of duties, namely the homologation according to Euro4, was obviously not exciting enough for the developers. In addition, the KTM 125 Duke as a freestyle, many modernizations. The KTM 125 Duke has always been a dynamic runabout whose liveliness could be seen at first glance. With the 2017 model year, it looks even fresher.

Its bolted, orange powder-coated rear frame (instead of the previous black and welded) immediately catches the eye. The headlight housing now shows even more edge and now houses an LED light unit. The exhaust of the KTM 125 Duke moved from under the engine to the right side of the vehicle – certainly a tribute to Euro4, but not an aesthetic step backwards.

2017 model with a significantly more aggressive side view

The lower edge of the rear fairing dispenses with the slight concave kink of the previous model and thus shows a much more aggressive side view – even if the rear of the new KTM 125 Duke is hardly any steeper than on the predecessor. Overall, it was an idea longer, which benefits both the dynamic shape and the pillion seat.

The new open-cartridge fork from WP-Suspension with an inner tube diameter of 43 millimeters cushions and cushions at the front on 142 mm; the tried and tested, directly hinged strut offers the rear wheel 150 mm.

The single 300 mm brake disc in the front wheel has the KTM 125 Duke under control; the Bosch 9.1MB two-channel ABS increases safety and can be switched off.

A TFT cockpit should provide an even better overview of the many functions and can optionally serve as an interface to the smartphone or MP3 player. The fact that the tank of the KTM 125 Duke grew to 13.4 liters is also a nice goodie – it wasn’t really necessary.
