For a good 31,000 euros, KTM is offering a limited edition of the 450 Rally Factory. The machine was co-developed by the Dakar works drivers and is designed for the toughest jobs.

The Dakar replica of the KTM 450 machine costs 68.50 per cubic. With a displacement of 449.9 cubic centimeters, this makes exactly 30,821 euros, gross. Mental calculators now know: That makes 25,900 euros net for the off-road queen from Mattighofen, limited to 80 pieces.
Works pilots help develop
The basis of the racing machine and the replica is the 450 EXC from KTM, which has been continuously developed by the works pilots Matthias Walkner, Sam Sunderland and Toby Price and is designed as a special model ex works for cross-country races with special tests.

The water-cooled single cylinder has a capacity of 449.9 cubic meters and controls its valves via a single overhead camshaft. The entire engine, including the rally gearbox from Pankl Racing and the spread of the Dakar machines, weighs just 29 kilograms. Thanks to the gear recognition of the transmission, individual adjustments can be made for each gear. Performance: probably sufficient, as not mentioned. But there are likely to be more horses than in the base model, as the rally has a 44-millimeter throttle valve. The EXC version is only 42 millimeters. The Akrapovic system should also contribute to an increase.

On the other hand, the chassis components used are known: At the front there is a – how could it be otherwise – fork from WP with 48-millimeter standpipes of the XACT Pro type. Built as a closed cartridge system with a cone valve, the fork with a good 304 millimeters of spring travel should offer fine response and high reserves. The same type is the shock absorber in the rear with 300 millimeters of travel, 29 more than the 2020 version. Both spring elements are fully adjustable. Another special feature of the rally is the self-supporting petrol tank in the rear, which also serves as the rear frame and base for the seat. With a volume of 16 liters, the replica, like the competition machines, has a good 33 liters of fuel.
Prices and availability KTM 450 Rally Factory
KTM only offers the 450 Rally Factory in an edition of 80 machines. Price: 25,900 euros net. On top are the national taxes and the transfer. In return, customers also get a real professional device. Another professional option is the bookable service package from KTM, if the machine is used privately on the Dakar.
Conclusion
Almost 32,800 euros for a 450 cubic enduro. Expensive? Probably not, because if you actually want to drive to Dakar, you will have to face very different costs. And who with the replica “simple” If you only want to ride a bit of Enduro, you will appreciate the high-quality components anyway.
