The basis for great adventures

Even more adventures in the KTM 890 model family. After the 890 adventure models R and Rally, KTM is now adding the 890 adventure base model.

Analogous to the 790 model family, KTM is also extensively expanding its 890 series. After the KTM 890 Adventure and Adventure Rally models, two sporty travel enduros based on the large in-line twin-cylinder, the basic model is now following with the KTM 890 Adventure.

Reduced suspension travel

KTM

The heart of the normal 890 Adventure is also the Euro 5 homologated 105 PS and 100 Nm two-cylinder. The chassis for the base was further shortened. If the R has 240 millimeters, the Rally even 270 millimeters of travel on both axles, KTM limits the Adventure to only 200 millimeters of travel on the 43 USD-WP APEX fork and shock absorber. The new WP APEX shock absorber offers greater adaptation potential thanks to a new rebound damping adjuster and an additional manual adjuster for the spring preload.

More travel comfort

KTM

Accordingly, the seat height of the two-way height-adjustable bench drops to 850 millimeters. The spoke wheels with anodized hubs measuring 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear have tubeless tires. The front fender sits directly above the wheel. The butted aluminum handlebar can be mounted in six positions. It offers an adjustment range of 30 millimeters. The windshield above the LED headlights is higher than on the sister models – even more emphasis is placed on travel comfort. Behind it sits a colored 5-inch TFT display that bundles all information and is ready for smartphone contact. A navigation module can be attached to it.

The assistants include cornering ABS with off-road function (rear wheel is switched off), modified traction control and various (off-road) driving modes. ABS and traction control can be switched off. The left handlebar fitting is already prepared for a cruise control system, but also a quickshifter, heated grips, heated seats and luggage system on board at an additional cost.

The Austrians have not yet announced a price for the new KTM 890 Adventure.

Conclusion

KTM uses its new modular system and is further expanding its range of models around the 890 two-cylinder. After the R and Rally models, there is now the more civil version of the travel enduro.
