Less reassured but already excited by the vigor of the 990 SMR, the little orange pilot understood the delicate invitation to take control of this racing-style Supermoto. It must be said that this katoche has nothing of the grandmother with small soups and tender eyes. Its very trash decor (orange frame, white trim, touches of black and carbon, crazy look), its not very virtuous twin, its improved suspensions and more finesse at the level of the saddle and the tank make this machine a supermotard a winding road tool. Advertised at less than 190 kg, the SMR gains a few pounds over the SM, but it is especially on the more incisive chassis that the little orange rider will feel the difference and the more eloquent liveliness of the bike. Even more sport for this already very sporty machine, which has not finished wowing our little orange pilot.
Mid-2012, it is an austerity cure for the SMR, making it suddenly much more accessible, more secure but less noble. By picking up the Bosch 9M + ABS and being almost 1,500 euros less, the plowman of tight courses becomes very attractive. What we gain in the wallet, we lose on the equipment. The calipers are no longer one-piece, the formerly forged rims are now cast, finished the surface treatment for the fork tubes, a few less carbon parts, and 3 kilos more on the scale.
