Measure and train lean angles in curves

KurvX is a device that can be mounted on the handlebars of the motorcycle and that measures and evaluates the lean angle in the curves. So the comfort area should be left in a controlled manner and the personal limit area expanded.

With kurvX, interested motorcyclists should be able to optimally practice cornering. Namely, by gaining experience with the evaluations of kurvX and thus comparing the inclinations you actually drive with the desired and possible values and being able to feel your way safely. Sensors that measure the driving dynamics, such as the acceleration values, are built into the device itself. The data is transferred to the smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. If the user registers with his Google account, he can use the session mode of the kurvX app and call up his driving data.

Android and Bluetooth 4.0 or higher required

The device is mounted on the handlebar and connected to the on-board network using the accessories supplied. The user also needs a smartphone or tablet with an Android operating system and Bluetooth (from 4.0) on which to install the kurvX app. The kurvX app for iOS is in progress. The device on the handlebar is then connected to the app via Bluetooth via the smartphone. The app also runs the evaluations, the recordings are started and the desired values are stored.

kurvX determines inclination values

When the session mode is activated, the kurvX calculates the lean angle in the curve in real time. If the driver exceeds the value previously set, the device signals to him by flashing LEDs that the desired incline has been reached. The frequency and intensity of the flashing increase with the incline until the device lights up continuously when the warning limit is reached. In this way, the driver should be able to feel his way to his personal optimal incline and develop a secure feeling for the limit area, according to the manufacturer. with “Warning limit” is meant the inclination previously determined and desired by the driver. The user can also adjust the flashing intensity of the device on the handlebar. At the end of the curve, the device on the handlebars also shows the maximum lean angle value of the last curve.

How evenly did you ride? Do the determined values match the feeling of the inclined position being driven? Is there a little more possible? This can be read and analyzed after the journey thanks to the session recording on the smartphone or tablet. Above all, through regular driving and evaluation, it should be possible to leave the personal comfort area in a controlled manner so that – if things get really tight – safety reserves can still be mobilized.
