The motorcycle market increased by 8% in February 2011
Good news: February 2011 confirms the January increase! He registered last month in France 11,084 motorcycles, or 8.2% more than in February 2010. Large cubes like the 125 are benefiting from the upturn. Figures, Charts and Analysis.
January’s improvement is confirmed in February
Regular readers of the Site market reports will remember: the months of February 2009 and 2010 were particularly disappointing for the motorcycle market, with respective declines of -26.5 and -12.5% (read and).
The causes of these reductions in registrations were multiple: a very uninviting weather, ever greater competition from MP3 LTs and the automotive sector – supported, unlike two-wheelers, by the scrapping premium -, the absence of new products generating large volumes – or their arrival too late – the rise in prices – especially among Japanese manufacturers, Honda in the lead -, etc..
However this year, the situation is reversed! The temperatures at first were mild – even hot! -, rain and even more snow were much less present, so that the two-wheelers were able to circulate more freely and more easily attract buyers.
Likewise, the shortfall due to MP3 LT is now "absorbed", the statistics of motorcycles no longer being biased by the sales of tricycles. On the other hand, we note that the French automobile market is still recording nice increases (+ 13.7% in February): the brands’ commercial offers are producing their effects, without however hampering the motorcycle market. Phew !
We can also note that important novelties for 2011 are already available in French dealerships and allow their manufacturers to record very good scores. Finally, prices for scooters and motorcycles are generally lower than they were a year ago..
Compared to a difficult month of February 2010, February 2011 (which also had 20 working days) seems rather good. Registrations of 125 increased by 7.7% and those of large engines by + 8.5%.
