Market reports - The two-wheeler market is entering the final sprint! -

The end of the year is approaching and the market is still extending its stride: sales of 125 are up 35.7% this month – Yamaha making almost a third of sales! – and those of the big engines increased by 5.4%. Balance sheet.

In November, the two-wheeler market grew by 20.4% compared to November 2005, or 15,105 vehicles sold against 12,541 (read).

The penultimate month of 2005 was not unworthy, however, registering an increase in sales of 41.7% for the 125 and 20% for the big cars compared to 2004. But it is clear that 2006 is even more strong !

In small-displacement vehicles, the month of November thus ended with a 35.7% increase in registrations. Outstanding champion of the category: Yamaha more than doubles its sales! Behind, Peugeot achieves the second best performance with an increase of 88.5% compared to November 2005.

Side large displacement (+ 5.4%), the tuning forks brand is also very vigorous but Honda signs the most beautiful progress with + 38.7%. This month Suzuki is just a short lead ahead of Yamaha but cannot be joined by the end of the year. Behind, the manufacturers are suffering a little, but their 2007 novelties should fortunately reinvigorate them.

Market 125

If the ranking within the 125 market does not budge one iota, some data is remarkable in the true sense of the word! Starting with the performance of Yamaha which is – almost – comments: + 122.9% !

This month, the Hamamatsu firm has swallowed up more than 30% of the market share, including 16.1% thanks to its only YBR sold off at € 1,990 (1,362 sales) and 6% with its Xmax (508)! Over the past eleven months, Yamaha therefore represents 22.27% of PDM in 125, i.e. 5% better than number one in France in 2005: Piaggio.

The Italian had a disappointing month (+ 6.3%) compared to the 35.7% increase in the entire sector. However, his Liberty had an excellent month with 462 buyers, as was his MP3 which has already attracted 351 customers. Which finally allows him to administer 22.02% of PDM this month.

Honda meanwhile barely manages to match its score from last year. Its Pantheon (361 sales) does not meet Euro 3 standards, it will have to be replaced as of next January, unless a derogation is obtained for a one-year extension. Still, the world number one sees its PDM largely decrease: 12.57% in November against 16.26 in the cumulative eleven months.

Peugeot has kept the pace that has driven it since the arrival of its Satelis (205 sales), overtaken this month by its Kompressor version (213). With 88.7% more sales compared to last November, the Lion de Sochaux is therefore preparing to end the year by doubling its 2005 score! Will the upcoming arrival of Geopolis allow this increase to continue in 2007? Suspense !

Behind, the gaps are widening … Suzuki, which represents 6.6% of PDM at the end of the eleven months, achieves only 3.19% in November because of a head duo Yamaha Piaggio particularly voracious. The Burgman – old and new models combined – found only 191 customers, ranking 10th best-selling scooter.

For its part, MBK saw its sales increase by 4.5% compared to November 2005, but fell back below 5% of net sales cumulative. While Peugeot Motocycles seems to effectively tickle the patriotic fiber of the French, MBK and its scooters – however substantially identical to Yamaha’s best sellers – are still struggling as much….

Finally, apart from the Taiwanese Sym, the manufacturers at the bottom of the table are all regressing this month. And for the first time of the year, Daelim does not improve its result: with a decline of 1.9% of its sales compared to November 2005, would the Korean have reached a first threshold? ?

Kymco for its part fell by 9.7% while Aprilia saw its sales collapse again (-33.6% this month): the manufacturer of Noale now represents less than 3% of PDM in France…

Large engine market

With 5.6% additional sales compared to November 2005, the big cubes ended a satisfactory November. However, the results vary greatly between manufacturers..

Thus, in November 2006 Honda ceded another 300 sales to its competitors Suzuki and Yamaha. But while waiting for the next generation, the Hornet 600 2006 edition is still 2nd best seller, tied with the Kawasaki ER-6.

The world number one still achieves the best progression compared to last year with an increase in sales of 38.5%, so that cumulatively the winged brand totals an increase of 17% compared to its 2005 results.

Up front, Yamaha and Suzuki have again registered 40% of vehicles. Yam is doing the best compared to last year (+ 29.2% against 14.8%), but Suz remains at the top of sales with 1,353 registrations and still explodes the counters in terms of motorcycles MT1 type (motorcycles under 34 hp): 259 sales while Yamaha only has 48, Honda 50 and Kawasaki 45.

The Greens are waiting for the delivery – in March 2007 – of the new Z750s: the stocks of the French best seller are sold out at the biggest dealers and one would be tempted to say that "only" 214 motorcyclists were able to get the roadster. seven and a half. Fortunately, the new Versys (104 sales) cushioned the fall, but Kawa still shows a low of -34.9% this month.

After a difficult summer, BMW continues to improve its situation: with + 21.6% compared to November 2005, the Bavarian manufacturer limits the drop in sales to the cumulative eleven months (-7.8%) thanks to its tireless R 1200 RT (134 sales) and its new R 1200 R, soon to be tested on Moto-Net (100 sales). Its Austrian neighbor KTM is also doing very well with 349 registered machines against 272 last year.

But congratulations stop there this month … Indeed, the second half of the manufacturer‘s table experienced a more delicate month of November 2006: Triumph stagnated while waiting for the Tiger 1050 and Harley-Davidson recorded a drop of 4 , 6%.

Worse, sales of Ducati and Piaggio plummet by 26.4% and 29.7% respectively compared to November 2005. Fortunately, the arrival of new models presented in Milan two weeks ago offers Italian manufacturers a more pleasant outlook (read and).

For its part, Aprilia is no exception to the rule: with only 64 motorcycles sold – Moto Guzzi does better with 65 -, Noale’s firm wants to be optimistic. Will the release of two mid-capacity roadsters next year (read) be a game-changer? To be continued !

Finally, we note that GasGas registered 78 motorcycles in November, Buell 50, Peugeot 35, Husqvarna 28, MV 11, Voxan 11 and Morini 2.
